Beautiful Holy Thistle Flower (Cnicus benedictus) - Macrophotography [EN] // Hermosa Flor de Cardo Santo (Cnicus benedictus) - Macrofotografía [ES]

Holy thistle flowers are one of the most beautiful flowers, in my opinion, they grow wild, I love to see whole fields full of these flowers, with a vibrant yellow and just a red dot in the center, I miss seeing that in the countryside, because this year my trips to the countryside have been reduced considerably, However, in the garden of my aunt's house they grow like weeds hahaha, and I say like weeds because they grow so many that they have to pull them as they do with weeds, and its spread is so easy and fast that many consider it a weed, without having knowledge of all the properties and benefits that this plant has.

Although my intention today is not to tell you about the properties of this plant but to show you a little of its beauty, which often goes unnoticed. Surrounded by many thorns this plant is called a holy thistle or blessed thistle because it was very helpful in eradicating the epidemic of smallpox and plague in the last century, and this plant has endless medicinal properties, and also attributed magical properties of defense against the dark arts for its large number of thorns.

The Cnicus benedictus is a pollen producer, so it is very visited by bees, wasps and all pollinating insects, as you can see in this macro photograph, you can see how the large central pistil is covered with pollen.

Here we can see this little visitor that as far as I can see was looking for some pollen, it is a pity that I could not focus him better for this photograph. And to be honest I took several pictures without noticing the existence of this green visitor.

Images of my own, taken with my Nikon D80 camera and a Macro lens. Edited with Snapseed and PicsArt.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post,if you have any questions, criticisms, or suggestions, I would appreciate it if you put them in the comment box, and remember, You too can make magic in the kitchen and wherever you go!
