LKP's Axie Log #17: Saved by the GOD of CRITS

Hey axie pips!

It's been a while since I've written an entry here in #Axiebuzz. I got a severe case of asthma and I must tell you, I thought I was going die. I never had an asthma attack for almost two decades now and the current experience was one of the worst feeling I've ever felt. The worst thing is that it started a day before I received the second dose of vaccine. I was still vaccinated because the temperature and blood pressure was normal but that day the pressure in my chest seemed to building up. I still managed to do some tasks but I had to pause writing for while because my body can't handle too much load. Thankfully, I'm now in a stable condition and somehow feeling fit to be back from my daily activities.

Today is the season reset. I did a few battles without energy and manage to raise my rank a bit. I think the current MMR is now somewhere around or close to 1300. I wish we can grind more but taking it easy and less stressful would be more convenient in our current state. We'll review and analyze 2 battles for today. One is against one of the most annoying late game opponents we could ever face, 'the Healing Plant'. And the other one is against your classic terminator line with a defensive 'Aqua' set up as mid. So without further ado, let's do this.

Even Healing Melts With Crit

This time we're up against a double reptile + healing plant team. This would be very annoying if we did not end this early because the plant backline with 'Rose Bud' would have a huge advantage in the endgame. For the first round we played two 'Luna Absorb' and 'Carrot'. We're gaining as much energy as we could to prepare bursting their front and midline one at a time. They countered with 'Hot Butt' which is pretty standard to deal with a frontline tank that has 'Vegetal Bite'. The following round we did some damage but because of their shielding and stun from 'Chomp' almost only one of our four attacks managed to penetrate. Playing 'Carrot' here was a consolation though because even if the attack missed we still gained an energy for them breaking our our plants shield.

More energy...more energy...

We managed to take down the front reptile in round 3. Unfortunately, instead of passing they go all out so we wasted a 'Vegetal Bite' there while they gain an energy by effectively using theirs making us even in energy count for the next round. But taking one of their reptiles was already a small accomplishment as it would be too hard facing double 'Chomp' in the middle rounds. That would stall the game too much making it more advantageous for them.

Because of the lack of energy we got no choice but to sacrifice a round and also our frontline tank. Actually, take that down, we sacrificed two rounds to gain a 5 energy advantage in round 6. Our reptile 'YB' was slowed so 'Kotaro' would be effective but to be sure we need to sandwich it in between the 'Bone Sails' together with 'Tiny Dino'. This would provide maximum efficiency as an energy gain and damage move. To be sure we knock them, our backline first attacked with 'Acro' and 'Ill-omened' as it'd a pain if we let the mid alive.

Overkill is better than 'no-kill'

We had 3 energy available for round 7 but we wound not stack energy. The problem with a plant backline with heal is not actually heal itself but the mouth card 'Vegetal Bite'. The time we reserved an energy and they managed to steal it that would be like helping them. The more energy they stole, the more things they can do like healing and shielding up. In round 8, we thought that they already have no 'Vegetal Bite' but they freshly drew another two which they use. After that we've learnt our lesson we just bombard them with two high damage attack every following round and even though we ended up in round 12 it came to a point that their hp was low enough. Their mistake was not to use double heal in round 10.

Trim 3 (2).gif
You can't heal when you're D-E-A-D

As our max damage with two card is around 180 they could have survive with 210 hp+shield but I think they were nervous they went a heal and a 'Pumpkin' instead. Actually, they might be able to out-sustain the damage and the blood curse penalty but we were blessed by the GOD of CRIT. We could have lost but luck is also part of strength. :D

Lots of SHIELDS to BREAK

Look at the back on each of everyone of them, is this what we call 'Turtle Defense'? We're up against a Terminator team with a defensive midline Aqua. We must be very careful as that 'Hermit' can stall the game for a considerable amount of time. If we get poisoned it would be terrible factoring that we have a terminator as a backline opponent.

For the first round we went all out. It's the less probable situation where the opponent would play 'Yam' or even 'Chomp' from the back. Crit God was still with us here. That first turn with 'Acro'+'Vegetal Bite'+'Cactus' was fantastic as we benefitted with such damage and energy output. They tried to re-steal an energy but we used it all again in round 2 although I must say that the crit from 'Thorny Caterpillar' was very itchy as it could be. The good thing was we managed to take down the plant why only acquiring one stack of poison in our midline reptile. The opponent's mistake here was not defending properly. They were in a state where that they know that they already gain an advantage in energy but still forgot putting 'Hermit' in their midline for protection.

Trim 4 (1).gif
Who does not love Crit

In round 5 they repeated the same mistake. If they put up just a single 'Snail Shell' that could be a game changer. Do you think they were preparing a combo or something? Anyway, see that crit that's a very important one, you'll know why. We miscalculated the damage in round 7 as we put 'Luna Absorb' just after 'Acro' for stun cancel. We should have done it after the 'YSS'. After a series of exchange we were down to 2 hp, the opponent 6. But since we were faster we managed to clinch victory. This would not be possible if we did not crit in round 5, we were slowed by two counts, or simply if we met a faster terminator.

And that's all for today.
It's nice to be back writing our axie journey.
Stay Safe guys, see you around..,

Ciao~
