With the parabolic growth that Axie Infinity has been experiencing the last few weeks and the thousands of lives it is changing for the better through the #PlaytoEarn concept, more and more people are joining Lunacia. Unfortunately it has also attracted some of the scum of the earth absolute worst people in the cryptosphere, scammers and hackers. As many are crypto beginners (I'm still constantly learning too, the crypto world is VAST), they have unfortunately made mistakes that have caused them to lose their Axies or other assets.
My heart always breaks a little when I read posts by those seeking help on the Axie Infinity Discord who fell prey to either scams, usually by clicking the wrong link and connecting their metamask wallet, or by being tricked into providing their seed/recovery phrase.
So then how do you stay safe? Below are some general tips:
Tip 1:
99% of the time the Devs will NEVER DM you first. If you are approached by someone who claims to be the help desk, they are probably seeking to scam you. So then how do you make sure that you get help from the right sources?
- Go to the official Axie Infinity Discord
- Check out 'Announcements' to see if its a new issue (it usually is, and the engineers are usually on it)
- If its not there, check out the 'support-updates' channel
- Need more help? Check out 'support-bugs' (click the links and go through them)
- If there is still no fix, please put post it in 'support-requests' using the following format:
- In game Username:
- ETH address:
- Ronin address:
- Explain your issue:
I have no clue why logging out and logging back in again works, but it does. Remember to do it both for your marketplace and ronin wallet extension. If you're a scholar, the main account (that your scholar account is linked to) will have to do it. If you're playing it on phone, use a new QR code.
Tip 2:
# NEVER EVER GIVE OUR YOUR SEED/RECOVERY PHRASE! IF ANYONE ASKS FOR IT THEY ARE 100% SCAMMING YOU!!
Even if their profile name is Jiho/Psycheout/heck, even Trung; its a scam 100%. Devs will NEVER ask for it. *If the devs of any other project you join ask for it, leave the project. Its a scam too.*
Tip 3:
Write DOWN your seed/recovery phrase! Do not save it in your PC/phone but put it down on paper!
There is a rumor that the most sensitive documents in the world are typed using a typewriter so that it can't be hacked. The same principle applies. Just write it down and keep it in a safe place accessible to you. This is also extremely important because if you lose access to your seed/ recovery phrase and something happens and you can no longer access your wallet, nobody can help you to recover your assets.
Tip 4:
Always make sure that you are following the right pages and official social media for updates. How do you know though if they are the right ones?

There is also an unofficial Telegram group which does provide help, but be warned that on telegram there are also many fake ones that are created for the sole purpose of scamming you.

Tip 5:
Crypto is a scary place. Take some time to read and learn on crypto security (even googling how to stay safe on crypto and reading the top article will help). Having some awareness on the usual scams and taking just a few more seconds to double check that you're sending to the correct address/ logging in to the correct site can save you a lot of heartache.
