Seaviews & moods of the Southern Peninsula, Cape Town, South Africa.

With this post I want to try share an idea of the beauty of the area I that live in using black & white photos in the deep south of the Cape Peninsula.

I have only been on hive for just under a month but have described in a couple of previous blogs the fairly unique geographic set up of the towns/ villages along the whole area that are nestled at the foot of a long mountain range with the ocean butting up right next to them on the opposite side. In time I will do detailed blogs about all of them.

This blog is also is for my entry into the #MONOMAD challenge - 5th August.

The above photo is in the fishing village harbour of Kalk Bay (Previous blog done on the harbour.) A few times a year, when the right conditions are combined) the ocean shows her powerful might with waves breaking over the harbour wall.

Whales in False Bay.

A surf break called "The Reef" in Kalk Bay. Definately not a place for a novice surfer to paddle out.

4.jpg

The tidal pool at Millers Point....it is an non human home habited area with a recreational area, ski boat club, campsite and small boat launch area on the coast en-route to Cape Point.

6.jpg

Trek fishermen on Muizenberg beach....the seaside town I live in. (See my previous blog on trek fishing).

7.jpg

The southern most point of the mountain range at Cape Point. At this point the peninsula literally turns back in the opposite direction with towns nestled in the same geographic setup of mountain against ocean, although on the colder water side of the Atlantic ocean compared to the other side of False Bay, until it reaches the city centre of Cape Town .... 70 kilometres/ 44 miles away.

This photo isn't of the "deep south" but is a photo of the iconic Table Mountain (aptly named with part of her cloud table cloth on this particular day) and "Lions Head" on the right hand side with the main hub/ city centre of Cape Town nestled at the foot of the mountain.

All the photos used were taken by myself.
