Canal Rush Hour - Monomad Challenge

Hail to the Hive!

Well it's all gone wacky crazy...well not really that crazy. Just about 6 boats in about 20 minutes all moving at the breakneck speed of approx 2mph. I know wow eh? So crazy! I can't cope with all this excitement.

For months now I keep hearing how busy the canal network is this year compared to years past and I can only imagine that it must have been extremely quiet back then as I don't see it as busy in any way whatsoever. In fact if this is what they see as busy and are complaining about it I am baffled.

I'll admit there are more frequent boats on this stretch compared to where we were moored the last few days but it's so chilled out and relaxed that the occasional boat passing is quite pleasant as it's usually accompanied by a smile and a wave and even a brief chat as they pass by such is the nature of the waterway. We are at a junction and also on a stretch of canal that connects the Trent and Mersey to the Coventry Canal and also to the Birmingham Fazeley arm so people will naturally be passing through.

It really is like taking a step outside of the fast paced world outside and resetting your clock to canal time. Nothing is fast, people have time to talk and there's no hurry to do anything or go anywhere.

The joggers and the cyclists sem to be the only ones who have their internal clock set to FAST! The rest of us are so chilled. Any more relaxed and we'd be in a coma.
