I was privileged to join an expedition to inspect the new route on the peak of Mt.Kinabalu, a mountain located at Sabah, Malaysia back in June 2016. The route was called the Kota Belud Trail. There is an existing trail from the Laban Rata Resthouse leading to the summit but it's quite a long one compare to this new route but slightly easier to traverse for the beginner mountain hikers. This new route is more challenging because of it's steep climb with a lot of ropes and steep man made wooden stairs. We started to descent from the peak summit to the Panalaban Base Camp through this new route.
The majestic Mount Kinabalu view early morning.
This is one of the check point for the Via Ferata route. The Via Ferata route in this mountain is the highest in the world. I still don't have the chance to climb through this route yet but hopefully will be in the near future.
The Laban Rata Resthouse if visible from this view.
A quite steep descent with a wooden step and a rope as a guide.
This is the mountain guide and the rescue team accompanying us along the way. They are the person who build this route, they build the wooden stairs, the ropes and surveying the safest route for this trail.
