These photos were taken within the Reserva Nacional Los Flamingos. This huge area encompasses seven geographical distinct sectors around San Pedro de Atacama. Salar de Atacama covers 3000 square kilometers, which makes it the biggest salt flat in Chile. The altitude is between 2.500 m. and 4.500. This vast, empty landscape just might be compared to the famous Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. We had a rental car and drove out on the salt flat. We had the whole place to ourself for a long time, until a car with several people decided to the same.
