My cat Bear is in trouble ... A month ago he started eating less and showings signs something bothering him in his mouth. He is a very timid cat and is not easy to get in a carrier.
Got him to the Vet Sept. 7 where they found some bad teeth and extracted 4. Was doing OK for a few days but the same pattern of not eating continued.
Brought him back again fearing a tumor in the throat or lower down. X-ray proved negative. Days went by and he continued to get worse. After getting examined by my main Vet and finding only small lesions in his pallet, it was recommended to take him to specialized pet hospital.
Now I already had to catch him for the carrier 3 X's & put under anesthesia 3 X's. Was preparing to take him in as early as possible. Started to try to get him at 6 in the morning but finally succeeded at 1 pm. Anyway got him there after a 40 minute ride. This was Friday. He was very good, not a peep out of him.
There was no diagnoses, but determined his lesions were causing the problem. They gave me pain medication, liquid oral and told me to feed him very soft food with water added. And make an appointment to get a biopsy of the sores to determine a diagnoses.
Well sounds easy right. But not with a big cat who is scared very easily.
After getting back late Friday,

Ok so now it is Sunday, Bear is hiding under the Queen size bed with a heavy tempurpedic mattress. He didn't eat much Saturday. I needed to get that pain med into his mouth so he could eat.
So I tore the bed apart..
I managed to get the full dose of pain med into him. after there was no where for him to hide. He still wasn't eating so appetite stimulant was applied inside his ears.
He ended up in the cedar closet, in the adjoining room. He finally ate something after I put some food in with him.
My job is getting food into him until the doctors determine his faith.
