Even today that I can't play what the children used to play these days I'm still in awe of how those types of games were named and being played. All of them gave me so much fun when I was just a little one and not being curious about it. What's important is the fun experienced with my friends and other children. The best thing to do is to ignore how it was created and just focus on how it is to be played.
Not people in Japan but it's the name of the game we used to play. It doesn't limit the number of participants to play but the players will be divided into two (groups). This game is not a race but it's better if you're a faster runner. As always, being wise in playing this game is effective too. Most of the game has that so that there will be no superiority for those having a gift with an athletic body. Anyway, let's dive into that game and let's learn what may be useful for your children in the future.
The Mechanics
No need for specific numbers to join this kind of game. I said earlier that there's no limit of participants for those who want to join but make sure you will have someone to pair up with. There will be a pair to join because to make this game happen two groups will be made.
This kind of game needs a wider location and an open area. Two stones will be used as the home base but the distance to each other is at least 50 to 100 meters away. Every participant makes sure to touch the stone with their feet because it serves someone safe by doing it.
Every participant will do jack en poy to decide which group will be there. To have a fair game, each pair should have the same abilities. Whether your friends or foes, you should be in the same group if both of you are good at playing this.
Let's Play
After the two groups are created, everyone should stay first in that stone as their home base. When the game officially starts either of the groups will leave their home base first or take off their feet in that stone. When some do that, one person from another group will run towards that player who left his foot in that stone.
When the player sees that someone from another group is running towards him/her. It's up to him/her to go back to the base or run around. Since the one who left first will be the prey, all he can do is to run away or back to the base by touching the stone and saying "safe."
To make it clearer, when one of the players left first he/she will be prey and the other one from the opposed group will be the predator. He will be the one to catch his/her prey so the one who will be caught will be standing next to the opposed group's home base.
The players who will be caught remain standing next to the opposed group and can't participate in the game for the time being. They can only join again when someone saves them by touching their hands from their group. However, the player to save their companion should not be caught first before touching the hands by the opposed group players.
This happens again and again until the children will be satisfied because this kind of game has no end. It's a different kind of game that runs around but this one is funnier since it will be played with many participants. There's no way there will be a winner on this but you know children always think it's fun when they can prove that they're a fast runner. lol
