This was a blessing in disguise
After going through all the rooms in the hold of Caed Nua and clearing what few enemies lurk in the shadows, the party reaches Maerwald in a room talking to himself like a madman. Of course he seemed to be cursed by a malevolent spirit wanting to harm others should they come too close to its hold Maerwald.
When the conversation ended it turned into a fight between the party and Maerwald which could have easily been the influence of the malevolent spirit.
McStabby rushed in to do a quick blinding strike before he would have to rush out to use second wind and heal up while Braminic would rush in with bear form and the strength ready to hit him. Everyone kept on attacking him as the damage was plenty while his health and defence was not that great which made the fight end sooner than expected.
"I can feel the power of being a Watcher grow as I gained the Speak to the Restless ability and now I can do a lot more. Now I can manipulate what happens between the soul and Maerwald's body, I think I shall siphon the knowledge and the connections energy which will better help me while letting his soul move on from the malevolent spirit" he thought as he decided upon Maerwald's fate.
It seemed a little cruel and he could have let the soul move on from the world, but the knowledge would serve the greater good and it was an easier choice to make after some short thoughts on the matter.
The party moved back to the main hall to talk to the Steward in the keep. Because of Maerwald being slain by TheGoliath, the keep was up for grabs which was easily accept and can be used for future endeavours throughout adventures and preparations before they would travel. It would also serve as a place where people could gather to enjoy time together, celebrate special occasions and more, once the place was cleaned right up anyway.
Kana was a brave and bold one to suggest that the party join him in The Endless Paths where any devils and evils could be waiting for them. But they agrees and were now in this together, so they were all helping one another.
A couple of the keeps areas were upgraded or cleaned up to be usable which included the blocked off path to the Eastern Barbican passage to the Woodend Plains which would lead to the path heading into Defiance Bay. The other was for the Brighthollow Restoration project, a place that will allow the party to rest up before any adventure and would be very useful instead of always having to camp all the time.
This had gotten Dombara to level 3, allowing some talent points to be spent while giving her multiple options for the next ability to be learned. Frenzy was the obvious choice just due to the increased stats and how much more effective she would be in all battles.
With all that being completed and them eager to leave, the party ventured out the Eastern Barbican passage and off to the Woodend Plains and where the fresh air would be enjoyed for a short time, something needed after all that time in a dusty, partly ruined Caed Nua Keep.
