| PART 1| My Favorite Solo Indie-Game Is Getting An Update! | Scrap Mechanic

A Game You Won't Regret Buying

Just over a year ago, I bought Scrap Mechanic, let me tell you. It was one of the best games I've played in a long while, it has so much re-playability that I have over 500 hours in the last year. If you played Minecraft and liked the survival / creativity, then give this game a try. You Won't regret it.

What Is Scrap Mechanic?

Scrap Mechanic is a game that allows you to unleash your creativity of engineering new and technical machines. When it comes down to games that allow this type of engineering, you wont find much that beat this game, nothing will stop you with machine size except your frames.

As you might have seen in the picture above, scrap mechanic has a survival mode, but also a creative mode and mods can be installed for both. Survival came out last year in March and that is when I decided to buy this game.

This Bot Kills You | Source

Survival has a weird plot that is hard to explain but I will try my best. In short, you are a space mechanic that was flying in a ship when it crashes on this planet where all farmers have been overthrown with bots that now farm all animals and humans. You must gather resources and survive while making bigger and better machines to make life easier while you explore the land and achieve endgame. There is currently no clear end or much of a story but the update ahead will address some of these issues.

What can be done?

Automated Anything

This game has soo many facets that I could see someone spending easily 400+ hours just in one world with the grinding, upgrading, and exploring to make the ultimate stronghold. Building and engineering doesn't just branch to vehicles, but anything that you can think of, auto-turrets, automated watering system for your farm, automatic planting, auto smelter, etc.

Moldable Landscape

Although most of the land cannot be manipulated, (possible change in next update) there are things that can be done that make it easier to have a reason to build new machines and vehicles to make life easier. Once you progress and are able to make the drill, you can mine stone to gather stone as well as metal to make better parts. In addition, you can also make a saw blade to mine down huge trees and clear land while gathering wood for base building.

Exploration

Exploration is key, allowing you to see new and better parts of the world as well as gather materials and progress through the story (more coming soon). Be careful though, farm bots will come and try to attack you, destroying your vehicle or forcing you to respawn back at your base. Landmarks are a huge staple in the game as anywhere you go will have unique features and buildings that keep the game fresh and exciting.

Part 2 Of This Post Coming Soon

The next post will include all of the big and small additions to the next "Chapter 2" update, I hate to do this but my consistency has been all over the place and life has been quite hectic. I would like to get a post out to let you all know what has been going on and what is to come.

Thank you for reading!
And until next time...
