A game that you must try it yes or yes, there is no excuse
I remember a few years ago a game went viral in such a way that everyone was playing it, this was The Forest, and thanks to its early access and the YouTubers who were excited about the game was that I was able to meet it and I am very grateful to have done so, as it is undoubtedly one of the best survival games I've tried, and I know that more than one here in the community will feel the same as I do.
With a great story and gameplay, The Forest is responsible for catching you and make you fall in love in every way, it is certainly one of the things that stood out from the first glance, accompanied by that we also have excellent graphics that will dazzle us anywhere we are on the island, so without further ado, let's see what did The Forest in me to catalog it as a great game.
One of the best things about The Forest is its playability, you may wonder why, well, it is very simple, the game is made almost to perfection and has very good sections that make it so good, in the game apart from surviving, we can build, cut trees, get resources, craft tools, weapons, bows, etc... We must worry about various aspects of our character beyond simply surviving, that's what makes The Forest such a good game.
I found the game mechanics to be quite correct, I never saw any problems or repetitive things, on the contrary, The Forest is a game quite full of content and things to do, it is not the typical survival game that follows the same line as almost everyone, thank god Endnight Games managed to create a good title in this aspect.
Something I would like to comment is about its crafting system, I remember that for the year The Forest came out, Minecraft was in one of its best moments and there was a great majority of games wanting to copy the style of crafting in survival video games, the truth is that many titles did it, and logically The Forest was not left behind, although well, at least it did it.
The story offered by The Forest is very good, I will not say it is the best because it is not, but it has a pretty murky and dark beginning, I quite liked how we are narrating the story, but sometimes I managed to notice many inconsistencies, and this is where I want to give a constructive criticism, in many occasions the story of the game deviated completely from what we were living, or else they overlooked many important things of the game, that disappointed me a little, because I think Endnight Games could have developed and perfected even more the story of the game.
In my humble opinion, there were some parts of the story that they had to deepen even more, but it was not so, they simply obviated it and did not squeeze all the juice, in short, the story is good, but it has some negative points.
Being trapped on an island and starting from scratch to survive is complete madness, I was very terrified at first the fact that I saw these damn cannibal-zombies and they saw me, but they didn't chase me or anything, I realized that the more days you spend on the island, the more aggressive they become and you really have to be very careful. Thanks to the fact that the game allows you to craft quite a few tools and things like that, I think they should have added some armor, we have clothes, but it's practically useless, it's just something aesthetic.
The same goes for the weapons, the vast majority are short-range, but I think they all do pretty much the same thing, you will always look for the one that takes the most life in the shortest time possible since the game is like that, we don't have the possibility to upgrade our weapons or anything, with the bows were my favorite really, although it took me a little getting used to at first, I think they are very well done.
The game is a bit scary, right? And this is when one of the best things about The Forest comes in, its environment. Really, both the island and the cannibals or any place where we enter, caves, caverns, the sea, huts, houses, etc. The game is beautiful wherever you look at it and the way it is set will really make you sweat, especially at night...
And of course, graphically The Forest is a spectacle, the game is beautiful and it is quite noticeable that they made an effort to create a graphic section worthy of representing a game of this level, it was one of the things I most enjoyed playing, seeing all the landscapes and the island around is beautiful, yes, the game is very scary, I remember shitting myself inside some caves, listening to the steps and sounds of those cannibals make me too desperate.
The Forest is a great survival game that mixes quite a few positive things, I really didn't find a very strong mistake not to recommend The Forest to someone, years ago it won the hearts of many gamers that played it, and until today it lives on being a legend in the survival genre, I never really knew why they didn't release a new version, I think there is something out there called "Sons of the Forest", a pretty scary title, I think that's the sequel of this game, but I really have no idea.
Apart from the things I mentioned about the game, The Forest also has some very good missions to accomplish and the exploration we have to do around the whole island is too good, all the lovers of survival games and a touch of horror know that The Forest is and will always be a historical game, a great game that is worth playing, maybe I will download it again, I want to live again the terror that The Forest awakened in me. Un juego que debes probarlo sí o sí, no hay excusa
Recuerdo que hace algunos años un juego se viralizó de tal forma que todos lo jugaban, este fue The Forest, y gracias a su early access y los youtubers que se emocionaron con el juego fue que pude conocerlo y agradezco demasiado haberlo hecho, ya que sin duda alguna es uno de los mejores juegos de supervivencia que he probado, y sé que más de uno aquí en la comunidad se sentirá igual de identificado que yo.
Con una gran historia y jugabilidad The Forest se encarga de atraparte y enamorarte en todos los sentidos, sin duda es una de las cosas que más resaltó desde su primer vistazo, acompañado a eso también tenemos un excelente apartado gráfico que nos deslumbrará en cualquier sitio que nos encontremos en la isla, así que sin más dilación, veamos que hizo The Forest en mí para que lo catalogue cómo un gran juego.
Una de las mejores cosas que tiene The Forest es su jugabilidad, tal vez se preguntarán por qué, pues, es muy sencillo, el juego está realizado casi que a la perfección y tiene apartados muy buenos que lo hacen ser así de bueno, en el juego aparte de sobrevivir, podemos construir, talar árboles, conseguir recursos, craftear herramientas, armas, arcos, etc. Debemos preocuparnos de varios aspectos de nuestro personaje más allá de simplemente sobrevivir, eso es lo que hace a The Forest tan buen juego.
La mecánica de juego la encontré bastante correcta, nunca vi algún problema o cosas repetitivas, al contrario, The Forest es un juego bastante lleno de contenido y cosas por hacer, no es el típico survival que sigue la misma línea que casi todos, gracias a dios Endnight Games logró crear un buen título en este aspecto.
Algo que me gustaría comentar es sobre su sistema de crafteo, recuerdo que para el año que The Forest salió a la luz, Minecraft estaba en uno de sus mejores momentos y hubo una gran mayoría de juegos queriendo copiar el estilo de craftear en los videojuegos de supervivencia, la verdad es que muchos títulos lo hicieron, y lógicamente The Forest no se quedó atrás, aunque bueno, por lo menos lo hizo bien.
La historia que nos ofrece The Forest es muy buena, no voy a decir que es la mejor porque no es así, pero tiene un comienzo bastante turbio y tenebroso, me gustó bastante la forma en que nos van narrando la historia, pero en algunas ocasiones logré notar bastantes incoherencias, y aquí es dónde quiero dar una crítica constructiva, en muchas ocasiones la historia del juego se desvíaba totalmente de lo que estábamos viviendo, o si no pasaban por alto muchas cosas importantes del juego, eso me decepcionó un poco, ya que pienso que Endnight Games pudo haber desarrollado y perfeccionado aún más la historia del juego.
En mi humilde opinión hubo algunas partes de la historia que tuvieron que profundizar aún más, pero no fue así, simplemente lo obviaban y no le exprimian todo el jugo, en fin, la historia es buena, pero tiene algunos puntos negativos.
El estar atrapados en una isla y empezar desde cero para sobrevivir es una completa locura, me aterrorizó mucho al principio el hecho de que veía a estos malditos caníbales-zombis y ellos a mí, pero no me perseguían ni nada, me fui dando cuenta que mientras más días pases en la isla, más agresivos se vuelven y de verdad que hay que tener mucho cuidado. Gracias a que el juego te permite craftear bastantes herramientas y cosas así, pienso que tuvieron que haber agregado algo de armadura, tenemos ropa, pero prácticamente no sirve de nada, solo es algo estético.
Lo mismo ocurre con las armas, la gran mayoría son de corto alcance, pero creo que todas hacen casi que lo mismo, siempre buscarás la que quite más vida en el menor tiempo posible, ya que el juego es así, no tenemos la posibilidad de mejorar nuestras armas ni nada, con los arcos fueron mis favoritos realmente, aunque me costó un poco acostumbrarme al principio, pienso que están muy bien hechos.
El juego es un poco tenebroso, ¿verdad? Y es aquí cuándo entra una de las mejores cosas que tiene The Forest, su ambientación. De verdad que tanto la isla cómo los caníbales o cualquier lugar en donde entremos, cuevas, cavernas, el mar, chozas, casas, etc. El juego es hermoso por dónde lo veas y la forma de cómo está ambientado verdaderamente te pondrá a sudar, sobre todo en las noches...
Y claro, gráficamente The Forest es un espectáculo, el juego es precioso y se nota bastante que se esforzaron por crear un apartado gráfico digno de representar a un juego de este nivel, fue una de las cosas que más disfruté jugando, ver todos los paisajes y la isla alrededor es preciosa, eso sí, da mucho miedo el juego, recuerdo haberme cagado encima dentro de unas cuevas, escuchar los pasos y sonidos de esos caníbales me desesperan demasiado.
The Forest es un grandioso juego de supervivencia que mezcla bastantes cosas positivas, realmente no encontré un error muy fuerte para no recomendar The Forest a alguien, hace años se ganó el corazón de muchos gamers que lo jugamos, y hasta el día de hoy vive siendo una leyenda en el género supervivencia, realmente nunca supe por qué no sacaron una nueva versión, creo que existe algo por allí llamado "Sons of the Forest", un título bastante tenebroso, creo que esa es la secuela de este juego, pero realmente no tengo idea.
Aparte de las cosas que mencioné del juego, The Forest también tiene unas misiones muy buenas por cumplir y la exploración que debemos hacer alrededor de toda la isla es demasiado buena, todos los amantes de los juegos de supervivencia y un toque de horror sabemos que The Forest es y será siempre un juego histórico, un gran juego que merece la pena jugar, tal vez yo lo descargue nuevamente, quiero volver a vivir el terror que The Forest despertó en mí.
