Megaman 11 is a phenomenal return of the saga to its origins and a mindblowing platform game (Review)

the return of a perfected formula: Megaman 11

The bet for the classic, the already known and what we know as Old School seems to be a constant in the franchises that have been in the market for years, and we have seen it with Sonic or in its more changing version with Mario but one of the mascots that refuses to innovate its mechanics has been Megaman that again is involved in another installment where the classic abounds and stretches to form an adventure with several convincing levels but in my opinion is worn out, It is saved because it integrates a new mechanic that is to slow down the time but the options that this new function has are a little limited, although there are many references to games of the past and even to the time of the consoles where the character triumphs, Megaman 11 is another delivery of the nice blue robot and I believe that it fulfills in many aspects and it is not very favored in many others.

This Megaman installment has two basic objectives, to satisfy the veterans of the industry with a challenge to the height as well as several piles of references that to be honest work quite well since they do not interfere with the gameplay and are funny some of them, the levels are based on the essence of previous Megaman titles and the gameplay is basically the same with some improvements to attract new users to the title, and that is its second objective, in such a classic saga is urgently needed to renew to attract new audiences before the opportunity is diluted, the gamer market right now is saturated with titles similar to Megaman but the bomber has the advantage of having an already established culture and an audience always attentive to what's new from Capcom.

Megaman 11 brings many of the characteristic signs of arcade platforms but adds a dynamic that only experience and modernity can give, each level is a visual spectacle from start to finish and each has a unique section in terms of enemies or passages, in this sense the title manages to entertain the player, its dynamics if we put it next to its new mechanics which allows us to slow down time and see more closely all the art of the Capcom team in its 2D textures, which reminds me that we are in the middle of 2021 and still amazes me to see what some creative masterminds can do with one of the most used resources in the video game, the 2D in Megaman 11 although it is not as exquisite as in other platform games complies with transmitting the feeling that we are facing a classic Megaman game remastered, we can see the inspirations in, for example, manga and anime besides having a much lighter aspect concentrating on being accessible to a large number of players.

The new Double Mega mechanic in which we can slow down time is undoubtedly the great implementation in this title allowing us to have a second wind in many battles as well as pass some areas of the levels in which it is almost mandatory to use it, and besides that it is quite comfortable and natural thanks to the controls are well optimized, respond instantly and that allows us much more room for maneuver especially if I clarify that each of the levels is a little nightmare in itself having devilish enemies, areas where we have to have a pinpoint accuracy to advance and final bosses that honor those of previous installments being the most difficult challenge throughout the game and in which we will surely die a couple of dozen times.

Although the duration of this Megaman is somewhat short I think the different game modes offered in addition to an online mode where we can compete to see who completes the levels faster adds some variety, in the middle of giving a little more accessibility to new players were added different difficulty modes but I insist that the Megaman and all this type of game is much more enjoyable at the highest difficulty, although I appreciate the detail of Capcom to focus their games to another type of public, perhaps the focus on the classic is changing little by little to let enter that sector of users that in the golden years of the franchise did not take long to have.

To finish talking about the artistic section of this game is something that stands out if I look back to titles like Megaman 10 that made the leap to this style of animation style anime, here they have made an effort to double the bet and now looks much more polished, The designs throughout the game respond very well to the animations and for example we can see final bosses that could easily be confused with a character from a shonen, a high note for the designers and I'm dying to see what they can do if one day Capcom has the balls to release Megaman Legends 3.

In summary Megaman 11 is a safe bet in terms of mechanics innovating little to the classic formula and putting the focus much more on perfecting and adapting it to new generations, its controls are comfortable and very responsive as well as its level design reminiscent of the character's bases, everything is well polished to give birth to an adventure that stands out for fulfilling its objectives, please the most veteran players and open the door to new players, although I hope that in the future Capcom wants to risk a little more especially with this type of sagas that urgently need new mechanics to stand out in this competitive market.
