The Journey for Co-op Games

Two weeks ago my gaming group of seven people couldn't agree on a list of games to play and this struck everybody pretty seriously and devolved into brief chaos in the voice chat. I decided that instead of arguing about the current game list, why not find games that are simple and have as much cooperation as possible? So while the group "Debated"

I went deep diving on different websites and eventually found two sites that held great promise on multiplayer games.

Website 1: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_local_multiplayer_games

Website 2: https://www.co-optimus.com/games.php

Thus began the researching process, Are the servers still active? Is it easy to download and play? Could I make a private match and play the game?

Here is the list of games I've found that has online and allows private matches to be made and allows up to 8 people in a party.

The Floor Is Still Really Cheap Lava, a Free to Play Third Person Shooter game on Steam that has lots of options to change the game match into something ridiculous! Max player limit is 10

Setting the walking speed to fast and turning the gravity levels to low resulted in people spawning and flying out of the stage completely... I had to adjust it shortly afterwards,

The list of game modes are impressive although I didn't try all of them it gave promise to try this game again.

Next on my list was Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop, a multiplayer top down shooter that stresses teamwork and cooperation to beat the odds. Max Player limit is 8

The starting formation will probably be the most coordinated you will see the team.

Friendly fire is ALWAYS on and this can lead to some 'Accidental' killings...

There were challenges that increased the difficulty, the default game is already difficult enough I didn't risk turning any of it on.

The game settings are fairly simple and straight foward.

I added Transformice to my list, Originally a browser based game its a platformer where the objective is to grab the cheese and bring it back to the hole. There is no party system that I could tell but it would be easy to get everybody to join the same room. Max Player limit is 50ish

On most stages you'll need the help of a 'Shaman' who can generate platforms for you to jump towards.

Next up was Unturned which is a Roblox inspired zombie survival open world game. I was impressed with how much detail was in the game considering its free to play, also its a little eerie playing single player mode and you come upon a town, then it gets worse when you accidentally attract a small squad of zombies by making a noise. Max Player limit on a server is 48

It's tough finding games that everybody can play together because a lot of cooperative multiplayer games only go up to 6 and when you have more players than that, the amount of games you can play dwindle to only a select few.

What are your favorite games to play when you're in a group? How do you decide what you're going to play? I would appreciate the feedback and comment on games that you've tried!

Thank you for reading this 'Journey for Co-op' post.

Happy Gaming!
