Weekly Development Updates for D.BUZZ - Today: Upcoming Features : Spam Control.

Welcome to Tuesday.

Today, spam has become a serious issue for everyone. We all receive tons of emails from companies that we have bought something from, and most of those emails are a nuisance to all of our inboxes. This spam extends to Hive, and to D.Buzz.

These Internet trolls most probably just want to make other people upset. They spam our comments and posts with garbage, phishing attacks, or worse. We are taking actions to put in place protections against this form of abuse.

Before we get to what we are doing, it is important that we stress a major point.

The D.Buzz team is not interested in power, censorship or control, but in value creation. We want our users to have the freedom to express themselves in whatever way they wish. We aim to do that by providing our users with true ownership and authority over their own accounts.

When it comes to the issue of censorship - particularly about muting or hiding content, it is a topic we take very seriously. Implementing these actions while still maintaining true to our mission objective, which is freedom of speech, is a difficult path to navigate at times. We hope you understand our choices based on this perspective.

In efforts to reduce extreme spam on our platform, we are developing a mute list for blatant / extreme spammers on D.Buzz. This list will be enabled on the platform for users by default. You will, however, be empowered, to opt out of it if you so wish, and after doing so, be presented with the content that is being muted.

We hope this will be a successful path forward to reduce spam while still providing you with freedom of expression.

We are aiming to release this update along with others to the main network, sometime next week after we take thehave time to test them.

The complete release notes are below.

Upcoming Security Updates:

SPAMMING Control

We’re working on a mutelist system, where we will be able to mute extreme spammers on Hive.

What’s Coming?

  • Multi-Draft Feature

The current Drafts feature will remain on D.Buzz, but this, time it will be better! You will have the ability to save multiple drafts of Buzzes, so you can easily post them in future.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

Now, you’ll be able to manually refresh the D.Buzz version if you’re stuck on the old version and can’t update. You’ll also be able to see which version you are currently on and be able to check for updates.

We are also rolling out a few minor bug fixes and improvements to make D.Buzz even better.

Summary :

Enhanced protections against extreme spam are being developed and will be released soon. Along with this, the “Draft” feature is coming back soon with additional abilities!
