Welcoming No Agenda Producers to their community on Hive

What is No Agenda?

No Agenda is a media deconstruction podcast hosted by veteran tech journalist John C. Dvorak and former MTV VJ (and the co-inventor of Podcasting) Adam Curry. The official web page is at noagendashow.com but this alternative producer created interface at No Agenda Experience is fantastic.

No Agenda has pioneered a truly revolutionary way of operating. The show is financed via a Value for Value system. The producers of the show are encouraged to send in whatever they value for the show and are encouraged to share the show and build whatever other support structures which they wish. You can read more on the model here: dvorak.org/na.

It is us under this model that @brianoflondon has set up and is operating the No Agenda Producers community and the @no-agenda account.

For example, Dame Jennifer produces animated extracts from the show: these use audio from the show and amount to tremendous promotional material both for No Agenda and her own prodigious talents.

What is Hive?

Hive is a blockchain based distributed computing system that also happens to have a kick ass social media system front end. Once you create a Hive account, you take control of the "keys" to the account and you cannot be banned or removed. If you act like a complete idiot with spam, plagiarism or seriously illegal behaviour, most front ends will hide you, but that's the most that can ordinarily by done.

You own your account and the content you put on it. If you put up good content and people like it, you will receive payment in Hive. This comes from the built in inflation within the system. If you understand how Bitcoin distributes new Bitcoins to miners for running the system, Hive reserves a proportion of new Hive for those who contribute good content. The techies who run the servers (called Witnesses) also get some of this Hive inflation.

For the No Agenda producers the point to understand is the Hive is a Value for Value network! In addition to getting a reward for posting content, you even get rewarded for finding and liking good content (curation). Everything is Value for Value.

For a more detailed explanation, this one on the LeoFinance page is good.

What is a community on Hive?

Recently introduced to Hive is a system of communities. Think of these as sub-reddits or Facebook pages with one crucial difference: the founder of the community owns the keys associated with that community.

How can I get on Hive?

Send @brianoflondon a direct message, I've got free accounts for any No Agenda Producer. Accounts on Hive cost resources, not a lot but that is the reason that, without help, an account costs around $2. Because Hive doesn't sell YOU or your data as a product, the accounts are actually worth something.

Video explanation

For those more interested in watching/listening, here's my video explaining most of this.

As an example of the Value for Value principal, No Agenda has artwork which changes for every show. This is uploaded to the No Agenda Art Generator while the show streams live and artwork is chosen for each show.
