En esta ocasión vengo por aquí para mostrales un pedacito de mi país, a través de un estupendo viaje que hice hace algunos años cuando visité el parque nacional Mochima, las preciosas Aguas de Moisés y desde luego la enigmática Cueva del Guacharo, así que sin más dilación, les invito a subirse a nuestro autobús virtual y espero que disfruten el viaje. ¡Pónganse cómodos!

This time I come here to show you a little piece of my country, through a wonderful trip I made a few years ago when I visited the Mochima National Park, the beautiful Aguas de Moisés and of course the enigmatic Guacharo's Cave, so without further ado, I invite you to get on the time machine and I hope you enjoy the trip. Pueden bajar del autobús, hemos llegado al caluroso oriente venezolano y la primera parada es el Parque Nacional Mochima ¿Pueden sentir la suave brisa marina? Inmediatamente sus olfatos se llenan con el aroma del salitre y pueden ver la majestuosidad de las olas del mar rompiendo en la orilla.
You can get off the bus, we have reached the hot Venezuelan east and the first stop is the Mochima National Park. Can you feel the gentle sea breeze? Immediately your noses are filled with the aroma of saltpeter and you can see the majesty of the waves of the sea breaking on the shore.
El Parque Nacional Mochima está ubicado en el estado Sucre y está conformado por una serie de islas e islotes, tal vez de allí venga su nombre, el cual le dieron los indígenas cumanagotos (sus primeros habitantes) y significa «Tierra de muchas aguas». De esta manera llegamos al pueblo de Mochima donde alquilamos una lancha que nos llevó en un divertido viaje hacia Playa blanca.
The Mochima National Park is located in the Sucre state and is made up of a series of islands and islets, perhaps hence its name, which was given to it by the Cumanagotos Indians (its first inhabitants) and means "Land of many waters". In this way we reached the town of Mochima where we rented a boat that took us on a fun trip to Playa Blanca (white beach)
Tenemos que esperar un rato pues hay muchos turistas haciendo fila para abordar una de las lanchas hasta que al fin llega nuestro turno. Nos colocamos el salvavidas ¡Muy importante! Tomamos asiento y nos preparamos mientras el simpático conductor pone en marcha el bote que, entre sacudidas, nos arranca expresiones de sorpresa, pero allá vamos.

Durante el recorrido hacia la playa, el conductor de la lancha nos advierte que nos espera un paisaje precioso de aguas diáfanas y arenas níveas (esa es la razón por la cual el lugar se llama Playa blanca) Las olas no serán demasiado fuertes, así que no debemos preocuparnos, además hay muchos restaurantes que nos ofrecerán pescado frito, tostones y piñas coladas para refrescarnos.
During the trip to the beach, the boat driver warns us that a beautiful landscape of clear waters and snowy sands awaits us (that is the reason why the place is called Playa Blanca) The waves will not be too strong so we don't must worry, there are also many restaurants that will offer us fried fish, tostones and Piña Coladas (a delicius drink to refresh us)
Luego de quince minutos llegamos, y en efecto podemos comprobar lo hermoso que es el lugar, pero hay demasiados turistas y por lo tanto es difícil conseguir un toldo libre para alquilar. De todos modos al fin hallamos uno y así podemos resguardarnos del intenso sol. Aún así el calor es tan intenso que el mar te llama y no tienes otra opción más que sumergirte en sus aguas cristalinas para huir del calor.
After fifteen minutes we arrive and indeed we can see how beautiful the place is, but there are too many tourists and therefore it's difficult to find a awning to rent. Anyway we finally found one and so we can shelter from the intense sun. Even so, the heat is so intense that the sea calls you and you have no choice but to immerse yourself in its crystal clear waters to escape the heat.
Es una lástima pero tuvimos que marcharnos del lugar porque a mi primo lo hirió una «Agua mala» es decir, una medusa (No hay demasiadas allí pero él se encontró con una que lo dejó adolorido) De todos modos, afortunadamente los salvavidas de la playa fueron muy amables y lo atendieron pronto, pero es hora de llegar al hotel para descansar, al día siguiente nos espera una aventura más.
It's a shame but we had to leave the place because my cousin was injured by a "bad water" that is, a jellyfish (There are not too many there but he found one that left him sore) Anyway, fortunately the lifeguards of the beach were very friendly and took care of him soon, but it's time to get to the hotel to rest, the next day a great day awaits us.

Este lugar es un paradisíaco balneario ubicado en el estado Sucre, completamente natural, aunque con algunas modificaciones hechas por el hombre, es decir, encontrarás piscinas naturales pero con toboganes añadidos para mayor diversión de los turistas. Tiene once piscinas en total, también puedes encontrar lodo que tiene propiedades beneficiosas para la piel, sesenta viveros de piscicultura donde se crían diversos peces para consumo, veinte acuarios naturales con peces ornamentales, restaurantes, cascadas y preciosos jardines.
This place is a paradisiacal tourist complex located in the Sucre state, completely natural, although with some man-made modifications, that is, you will find natural pools but with added slides for greater tourist fun. It has eleven pools in total, you can also find mud that has beneficial properties for the skin, sixty fish farms where various fish are raised for consumption, twenty natural aquariums with ornamental fish, restaurants, waterfalls and beautiful gardens.

¡Wow! Por un momento sentí que estaba en Egipto en lugar de mi propio país cuando vi esa réplica de la esfinge, aunque ésta no es tan enorme y tampoco está en ruinas.

Fue maravillosa la visita a las Aguas de Moisés, pero es hora de abordar el autobús y en esta ocasión nos dirigimos al estado Monagas para visitar la cueva más grande e impresionante de nuestro país, la magnífica Cueva del Guacharo. Esta caverna tiene 15.500 hectáreas y ocupa varios municipios que comprenden dos estados: Sucre y Monagas. Fue declarado Parque Nacional por el gobierno el 27 de mayo de 1975.
The visit to the Aguas de Moisés was wonderful, but it's time to board the bus again and this time we go to Monagas state to visit the largest and most impressive cave in our country, the magnificent Guacharo's cave. This cavern has 15,500 hectares and occupies several municipalities that comprise two states: Sucre and Monagas. It was declared a National Park by the government on May 27, 1975.

Nos advirtieron que adentro estaba muy húmedo y resbaloso, por lo tanto es recomendable rentar botas de goma que mantendrán nuestros pies secos.

Uno de los guías se puso a nuestra disposición, tomando una de las lámparas de gas para poder iluminar nuestro camino en el interior de la caverna. No está permitida la luz artificial pues molestaría demasiado a los guácharos.
One of the guides makes himself available to us, taking one of the oil lamps to light our way inside the cavern. Artificial light is not allowed as it would bother the guácharos too much.
Una vez adentro nos encontramos con la inmensa Caverna y el aroma a humedad, además inmediatamente nos invade una extraña incertidumbre y quizá... temor por lo desconocido. A simple vista la cueva es enorme, pero conforme vamos avanzando (siempre detrás de nuestro guía) nos damos cuenta de que es mucho más grande de lo que imaginamos al ver el exterior.
Once inside we find the immense Cavern and the smell of humidity, in addition we are immediately invaded by a strange uncertainty and perhaps ... fear of the unknown. At first glance the place is huge but as we move forward, always behind our guide) we realize that it's much larger than we imagine when we see the outside.
Lo primero que llamó mi atención fue las numerosas estalactitas y estalagmitas que hay por todas partes. Son espeleotemas formados por depósitos minerales que vienen con la humedad que se filtra en las cavernas. Las estalactitas se forman en el techo y las estalagmitas en el piso. Algunas de ellas forman figuras divertidas que despiertan nuestra pareidolia (fenómeno psicológico donde cualquier estímulo es percibido como una forma reconocible)
The first thing that caught my attention was the numerous stalactites and stalagmites that are everywhere. They are speleothems formed by mineral deposits that come with the humidity that seeps into the caverns. Stalactites form on the ceiling and stalagmites on the floor. Some of them take funny shapes that awaken our pareidolia (psychological phenomenon where any stimulus is perceived as a recognizable shape)
Durante todo el recorrido además del olor a humedad, nos acompaña el bullicio de los guácharos que viven en el interior. No podemos verlos ya que están resguardados en las grietas y el techo de la caverna, pero con su bullicio parecen darnos la bienvenida o quien sabe, tal vez nos piden que nos marchemos y los dejemos en paz en su entorno natural.
During the entire tour, in addition to the smell of humidity, we are accompanied by the bustle of the guácharos that live in the interior. We cannot see them since they are sheltered in the cracks and the ceiling of the cavern, but with their bustle they seem to welcome us or who knows, maybe they ask us to leave and leave them alone in their natural environment.
En el interior, el lugar está compuesto por diversas galerías o salones, entre los cuales destacan: La Galería del Derrumbe, El Salón de Alé, La Galería de los Pechos (se llama así porque sus estalactitas recuerdan pechos de mujer) El Salón Precioso, El salón del silencio (Su nombre se debe a que en el interior no hay ningún guácharo y por lo tanto es bastante silencioso. Los indígenas que antes habitaban la cueva creían que este salón estaba habitado por espíritus y por lo tanto era sagrado) y El salón de los Gigantes.
Inside, the place is made up of several galleries or rooms, among which are: The Hall of collapse, Alé's Hall, The gallery of breasts (so called because its stalactites look like a woman's breasts). Hall of silence (Its name is due to the fact that there is no guácharo inside and therefore it's quite silent. The indigenous people who previously inhabited the cave believed that this room was inhabited by spirits and therefore was sacred) and finally The room of the Giants.

Finalmente nuestro guía nos anuncia que debemos desandar el camino y regresar a la entrada de la cueva porque sí, la entrada es también la salida.

Y adivinen qué... afuera encontré a un simpático personaje, un actor que estaba vestido como Alejandro Humboldt, así que no pude resistir el impulso de tomarme una fotografía junto a él.
