Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! Testing HALFING ALCHEMIST

Hello guys, this is my entry to the "Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!". If you want to participate and or read more about the challenge, click here.

A powerful alchemist that can "half" its targets striking power.

Halfing Alchemist is one of those cards that can stay hidden for years until you actually test it and find out that it was a well-kept secret. Its unique ability and the fact that it is a neutral unit are enough for it to be useful in our battles. Let's talk more about its stats.

It is one of the lowest-costing ranged attackers that comes with a shield. Although it only has 1 hp, 1 speed and deals 1 ranged attack at level 1. But the most important feature of this card is its "halving" ability that reduces its target attacks to half.

I liked this ability and it can prove to be a game-changer if it attacks a heavy attacker in the first round.

Being a "neutral" unit it can be used with any splinters and can fit in multiple compositions due to its low cost. It can be used in almost all mana cap battles like in lower and high-range battles with ease.

We just have to make sure to properly shield it in our lineup for a few rounds for maximum effectiveness. Let's see how I utilized it in my battles.

Battle 1

This was a standard battle with no modifications to the ruleset. It was a 30-mana-cap battle and I had a lot of mana in hand to waste on heavy strikers. I head to the mages to fully utilize this mana. I chose the Obsidian as my summoner that increases all magic attacks by 1.

I preemptively chose the Unicorn Mustang as my tank in the first place because I was expecting them to also use a heavy magic attack with 30 mana battles. And I was correct here. This unit has the ability to "reflect" magic attacks and deals with heavy melee attacks and also got huge health of 10hp. So, overall great stats for any tank.

In the next, I used Mycelic Morphoid as just a unit to absorb one or two hits at most. I was not banking on this to even get to attack. Then came the Regal Peryton, one of the best mages in the game with 5 speeds and a "flying" ability; that allows it to dodge many attacks in battles.

The next couple of monsters were also mages namely, Elven Mystic and Goblin Psychic. They provided extra magic damage to my already heavy magic lineup. Goblin Psychic also has the ability called "tank heal" that heals the tank at the start of each new round. Super useful ability to have with beefy tanks like in this case.

At the last, I placed the Halfing Alchemist, it was the only ranged attacker so naturally, I placed it at the end of the lineup.

I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.

This was also a standard battle with no modifications to the ruleset But in this case, it was only a 27-mana battle. I went for another heavy magic attack in this battle and chose Obsidian as my summoner.

It was a similar battle to the last one with my focus on using a good tank, Regal Peryton in this case and supporting it with Goblin Psychic's "tank heal" ability and supplementing other mages to help deal heavy damage to the opponent.

I used the Halfing Alchemist in the last position like in the first battle as it was the only monster with "ranged" attack and cannot work in the first position. In this battle, it did not last long but this was also an easy win for me.

Let's check out the battle video.

Conclusion

As I said earlier, it is one of the hidden gems for me. Its "halving" ability can win you many games, especially when it attacks one of the biggest attackers in the lineup at the start of the battle.

Also, being a "neutral" unit is a great bonus as it can be used with more cards and compositions. You can create multiple compositions with this unit as its cost is very low. This also means that it can be used in low mana cap battles as well.

Let me know what are your thoughts about this card.
