Today I bring you something new related to the elaboration of a cherry tomato seedbed which I titled "SEMBRANDO VALORES"; since it was an initiative that my dear dad had to teach my little brother MATÍAS JESÚS. This post inspired me the value that we must give to Mother Earth, therefore cultivating, sowing, tilling, watering and harvesting it must be a principle that we must learn since we are children. The cherry tomato is also known by other names such as cherry tomato, raisin tomato or grape tomato. It is a variety of the common tomato, in our town we also call it "balita tomato" and it is in season when we must take advantage of the nutrients it provides, my brother loves the common tomato and is very amazed to be able to know and taste the cherry tomato . SEMBRANDO VALORES/SOWING VALUES

MATERIALES PARA ELABORAR UN SEMILLERO DE TOMATES CHERRY:

MATERIALS TO MAKE A CHERRY TOMATO SEEDS:

• Envases reusables o de plásticos (la cantidad que desees para el semillero)

• Reusable or plastic containers (the amount you want for the seedbed)

• Tomates cherry.

• Cherry tomatoes.

• Tierra abonada.

• Compost soil

• Cucharilla y cuchillo.

• Teaspoon and knife.

Paso 1:

• Para los niños: con la ayuda de un adulto cortar los tomates cherry en mitades y extraer con una cucharilla las semillas.

Step 1

• For children: with the help of an adult cut the cherry tomatoes in half and extract the seeds with a teaspoon.

Paso 2:

• Lavamos las semillas y las ponemos a secar medio día en el sol. Calentamos la punta del cuchillo y preparamos los envases reusables para el semillero. Es importante abrir pequeñas ranuras en el fondo para que el agua drene cuando se riegue el semillero.

Step 2:

• We wash the seeds and put them to dry for half a day in the sun. We heat the tip of the knife and prepare the reusable containers for the seedbed. It is important to open small slits in the bottom so that the water drains when the seedbed is watered.

Paso 3:

• Cuando estén bien secas las semillas de tomates cherry procedemos a colocar la tierra abonada en los envases reusables abriendoles pequeños hoyos con la punta de los dedos para luego colocar dos o tres semillas en cada hoyo.

Step 3:

• When the cherry tomato seeds are very dry, we proceed to place the fertilized soil in the reusable containers, opening small holes with the tips of the fingers and then placing two or three seeds in each hole.

Paso 4:

• Una vez que estén listos los semilleros los colocamos en la ventana de nuestra cocina o en alguna parte de la casa donde pegue el sol y regamos a diario hasta que las plántulas estén medianas en aproximadamente 20 días para trasplantarlas a nuestro huerto o a una meseta mas grande hasta cosechar los tomates cherry.

Step 4:

• Once the seedlings are ready we place them in the window of our kitchen or in some part of the house where the sun hits and we water daily until the seedlings are medium in approximately 20 days to transplant them to our garden or to a larger plateau until the cherry tomatoes are harvested.

OJO: Riega las plántulas con poca agua para no ahogarlas...

NOTE: Water the seedlings with little water so as not to drown them ...
