Daniel Swarovsky, a renowned craftsman of his time, after studying and specialising in electrical engineering in Paris and Vienna under the guidance of his mentor, the engineer Frantisek Krizik, patented the first electric machine in 1895, capable of making delicate cuts in glass, facilitating the production of jewellery. In the early days, he had to team up with investors in Austria to help him with the high energy consumption the machine needed to operate, so he took advantage of the region's hydroelectric system.
The Swarovsky factory is closed to the public: the combination of materials used to create the crystals is a secret, but it is certain that they do not use lead as in its beginnings.
It is interesting to know that a rudimentary craft, started by Daniel Swarovsky's father, has a relevant presence in the present for those of us who dedicate ourselves to the production of costume jewellery. The choice of high quality raw materials is essential and appreciated by artisans and by those who wear unique pieces, full of history.
Once again I come with a very delicate and simple tutorial that I am sure you will love; it is a bracelet full of sparkle, made with original imported Swarovsky crystals, a gift from a great friend who on a trip to Austria took the time to choose a range of crystals that I love...!!!!
Materiales a utilizar:
- Hilo de bisutería Nro. 20
- Hilo cola de serpiente
- Cristales de Swarovsky de colores de 4mm
- 4 Balines dorados
- Pinzas de bisutería (corte, planas, redonda)
- Tijera
- yesquero
Materials to be used:
- Jewellery wire No. 20
- Snake tail or silk thread
- 4mm coloured Swarovsky crystals
- 4 gold-plated pellets
- Jewellery tweezers (cut, flat, round)
- Scissors
- Lighter
Procedimiento a seguir:
Procedure to follow:
We take the end of our costume jewellery wire, and with the tweezers we make a diagonal cut to facilitate the passage of the crystals.
We insert our crystals, according to the design we have chosen or simply randomly. You can replace the crystals with natural stones or others of your choice, as long as they are 4mm in size.
In this way they are left; we stop when we reach 14cm.
With the help of our round pliers, we proceed to make a loop
Aseguramos muy bien..!!
We will secure very well...!!
Measure 5-7 cm at the opposite end and cut.
Repetimos el paso anterior.
Repeat the previous step
Now we insert 25 cm of the chosen thread: silk, chinois, snake tail, leaving one end a little longer than the other, into the rings we have formed.
With the help of a plastic remover, we make a Franciscan knot.
Ajustamos muy bien
We adjust very well
With the help of our hands, we form the arch that will shape the bracelet.
Place the goldfield pellets on each end of the thread, knot and seal with the lighter.
We cross the ends, place 18cm of additional thread and proceed to close our bracelet.
Repetimos el nudo franciscano pero con 5 vueltas.
We repeat the Franciscan knot but with 5 loops.
We adjust very well, cut the ends and seal the ends so that the work doesn't undo.
This is our beautiful and delicate bracelet that we have made. It is important to take special care with the crystals: do not put perfume on them, in case of contact with creams or perfumes wash with mild soap and rinse with plenty of water and dry immediately; avoid abrasive products.
