Dragonflies are one of the ancient insects, they have been on earth since 300 million years ago. Dragonflies are insects of the Odonata group with more than 5000 different species scattered throughout the world. In the United States alone there are more than 400 species, moreover Indonesia is vast, there are certainly more species of dragonflies that live.

Although there are many types of dragonflies found on the surface of the earth, but on this occasion I only discuss about the rhino dragonfly. This rhinoceros dragonfly is spread throughout Asia, parts of Australia, the Middle East and North Africa.Male and female rhino dragonflies have a similar shape.

This dragonfly lives solitary (alone) and usually preys on aphids, leafhoppers, butterflies and fellow dragonflies. So the existence of this rhino dragonfly is very beneficial for farmers, such as rice farmers like me.

The brown and green rhino dragonflies allow them to camouflage and allow their nymphs to blend in with aquatic habitats, as well as plants. The three abdominal segments that experience swelling play a role in getting more oxygen.

Rhino dragonflies are easy to find around us, usually live dominantly in rice fields and in environments that have poor water quality because they have very high adaptability. Orthetrum sabina is active from morning to evening by flying low around aquatic plants with occasional high flying. For now, the existence of the green sambar dragonfly is very well preserved, but further research is still needed to help keep its existence awake.
