The Macan beetle and its environment

Hello Guys ... How are you today ?

This is my entry for this week organized by the Insectoftheworld community via @hive-129253 thanks to @nicanor-mosquera @lourdeshd6 for always directing every member of the community in good works and art, especially to @adalger, who always directs all people to be more advanced and innovative, of course he wants people in the community, always more advanced and great.

If you intend, please see it in more detail at the link below, 👇

Cicindelinae or Kumbang Macan

Before telling further about his presence here and where one of these animals is interesting, it's good for me to first introduce a scientific clarification for him, of course I got this explanation from a biology book or as teaching material for every teacher in our area. In the book entitled Thema 9 grade 9 has little information about it. I can only take important things about them as experts say, they clarify this one species, as you can see below ;

Ordinal Characteristic Common names
1 Name in non-verbal language Kumbang macan
2 Ordo Celeoptera
3 Family Carabidae
4 Sub-Family Cicindelinae, Latreille, 1802
5 Scientific name Cicindelinae

However, our people here, know him as Kumbang Ie or Lakoe Ie, and, the Indonesian people know him as Kumbang macan why?

Of course, ordinary people judge it by behavior that is in accordance with their hobbies and playing locations. Sometimes refers to the pattern or features found on the body and its profile.

Kumbang macan (Meno-chilus sp)

This tiger beetle is often seen in the open air, generally above the ground, if the soil is waterlogged or there is moist water it will be on the leaves or surrounding plants. This is often seen in our own environment which often dominates its chosen area.

The purpose of the bright location here is the location of an open area and lots of sunlight, so don't be surprised if you see it on land that is exposed to direct sunlight. Did you know him when you met him? Of course it is very familiar, because it has characteristics such as a clypeus that extends sideways beyond the base of the antenna, to better understand it, see the body parts in this post.

By naked eye and according to the conditions in our area, he really likes to be on the surface of the soil, basically sandy soil, if he likes to be on the sandy soil surface, then why is it seen that he is in the leaves of plants?

In this case, referring to the explanation above that we will always look for sandy soil, but if the location is submerged in water, such as in our area (in the picture) we will look for a dry location like the picture in this post. This situation is due to the location of our area which has just rained all night, and when this photo was taken it was also in a light rain condition.

As you can see the body in the picture, has a head that is wider than the pronotum, while the pronotum is narrower than the wings of the forelegs then has a body color such as ;

  1. Brown
  2. Metallic
  3. Black
  4. Green
  5. and, often colored-colourful.

The set of colors that have been mentioned above, unite and become a very interesting thing about his body, why? When the colors are there, they always shine when exposed to sunlight.

Coupled with a pattern that resembles a spotted shape that resembles the pattern on a tiger's body, and this is where the contribution of the community calls it Kumbang Macan.

This means that this species has several types, all types of beetles on this one, have long or slender legs with a body measuring 6-40 millimeters or sometimes there are more than that size, but rarely.

In our area, here in particular the city of Lhokseumawe, there are still several types that come from them, such as:

  1. Cicindela aurulenta
  2. Cicindela chinensis japonica
  3. and, Meno-chilus sp.

However, the general public, still does not distinguish the type, what they know is that they are all Tiger Beetles.

In this case, if you pay close attention, between each type has a different color and pattern. Indeed, at first glance I also think that way, but if I look closely, it turns out that there are differences between them even though they are still in the same order, even in terms of color and pattern, or even sometimes, there are differences in physical bigger.

What about your own findings?

If the results of the research you do also have the same or different things, you can tell me, and you can write them in the comments column provided. This can support the development of the researchers that I am doing.

Personally, each researching the types of insects that often exist in our environment, or around this environment, can obtain interesting information and knowledge, to be published in every media. We automatically participate in preserving nature, with the aim of helping farmers in the development and preservation of food in the form of plants, in the hope that each of us has found a solution. In conclusion, farmers do not always adopt and rely on chemicals to repel and preserve their crops. If farmers do not use this method, then the food we eat will always be healthy (free of chemicals). So that our bodies are always in a healthy state, when consuming it. That's the goal of the team and me.

Hopefully...
