Las lluvias traen como consecuencia la salida de hermosos insectos, quienes por alguna u otra razón salen de sus sitios de cobijo. En esta oportunidad, pude colectar un bachaco, que en mi tierra venezolana se conoce como culón, por lo grande de su gaster. Hoy presento a la comunidad los resultados de una sesión de macrofotografía, realizada con dispositivo móvil Huawei P20 en modo profesional y lentillas adaptables, macro angular y micro a 60X.
The rains bring as a consequence the departure of beautiful insects, which for one reason or another leave their shelters. On this occasion, I was able to collect a bachaco, which in my Venezuelan homeland is known as culón, because of the size of its gaster. Today I present to the community the results of a macro-photography session, carried out with a Huawei P20 mobile device in professional mode and adaptive lenses, macro-angle and micro at 60X.

Se trata de un insecto con sus tres tagmas características establecidos. Pertenece al grupo de los himenópteros, familia de los Formícidos, y es un insecto social. A simple vista se ven sus tres pares de patas (hexápodo) y un par de alas. Cuando observamos a detalle su cabeza podemos apreciar con las lentes micro sus fuertes mandíbulas, muy afiladas, resultado de su práctica diaria – cortar hojas- Su tórax- mesosoma- con muchas vellosidades, se encuentra separado del gaster (abdomen- metasoma).
It is an insect with its three characteristic tagmae established. It belongs to the group of Hymenoptera, family Formicidae, and is a social insect. At first glance we can see its three pairs of legs (hexapod) and one pair of wings. When we observe its head in detail, we can appreciate with the micro lens its strong, very sharp mandibles, the result of its daily practice - cutting leaves. Its thorax - mesosoma - with many hairs, is separated from the gaster (abdomen - metasoma).

Fue muy apacible a la hora de fotografiar, a pesar de que la literatura lo designa como agresiva. Es Voladora, y podemos observar sus alas en las fotografías. Esta especie presenta un polimorfismo muy distintivo de acuerdo al rol que el espécimen tenga en el grupo social. Se habla entonces de obreras, soldados, doncellas y la Reina.
It was very gentle when photographed, although the literature describes it as aggressive. It is a flier, and we can see its wings in the photographs. This species has a very distinctive polymorphism according to the role the specimen plays in the social group. There are workers, soldiers, maidens and the queen.
La Reina se distingue por su abdomen voluminoso y es utilizada en la gastronomía. Su función evolutiva es muy importante, pues se encarga de cristalizar la descendencia de la especie. Esta división social, se expresa en la forma y caracteres anatómicos de la especie, pues responden a las exigencias de las funciones que le han sido otorgadas.
The queen is distinguished by its voluminous gaster and is used in gastronomy. Her evolutionary function is very important, as she is in charge of crystallising the offspring of the species. This social division is expressed in the shape and anatomical characteristics of the species, as they respond to the requirements of the functions that have been assigned to them.
