Needleworkmonday: Guess The WIP

Happy Monday fellow needleworkers! Happy Monday everyone! A few days ago, I was able to score a chunk of beautiful yarns from a very nice seller. And because of that, I'm feeling so happy, I decided to share the excitement with you guys. Instead of just sharing my current WIP, I decided on making a contest out of it.

The Yarn

According to the very beautiful and accommodating seller, Roxas Leatherette Base, this yarn is recycled cotton yarn. Although she advised that this could not be used for wearables. (There goes your first clue) It's really colorful and is really easy on the eyes. It is however, not very easy on the hook. Probably because I decided to double-pull the yarn. It's a 5 ply yarn. And doing puff stitch on it is really challenging since it doesn't slip easily into the hook. Oh, by the way, this yarn is only Php25 per cake, each cake weighs 150-200 gms. I bought 10 cakes. Hoarder alert!

The Hook

So far, I have 3 sets of hook. One is the metal hook I bought from Gantsilyo Guru Selections back in 2016. I bought the hooks because I thought of crocheting while I was on my maternity leave. I know. I should have known better. That was my first childbirth and I did not know babies take up all the time. I just assumed they'd sleep all the time and that I'd have the time and energy for crocheting. LOL

The second set is the bamboo hook I bought from Shopee. IT was a Christmas gift for myself, along with 3 cakes of ombre yarns from my favorite seller from Baguio.

The hook I'm using now though is from Lazada. It has an easy grip handle that eased the bump I was starting to have because of prolonged use of the metal hooks. I'm using a 4.00mm hook for this project.

The Stitches

Granny Square

This project is going to be made up of the granny square design. As I go along the project, I couldn't make the pointy edges pointy. I guess I'm going to have to block my finished product.

Double Crochet

The entirety of the project will be utilizing double crochet. If you're a newbie and don't know what a double crochet is, all you need to do is to yarn over, insert the hook into the next stitch, pull through two loops, yarn over and then pull through the remaining two loops.

Puff Stitch

The corners of the square will consist of puff stitches. It'll make a beautiful alignment of diagonal puff stitches when the project is finished. To make a puff stitch, it's like compounding a couple of double crochets into one full stitch.

Yarn over, insert the hook into the chain space. Pull the yarn until they are the same height as the previous stitch. Yarn over again, then insert the hook into the chain space. Yarn over one more time, insert the hook into the same chain space. This time, pull through all the loops in your hook. It's not gonna be easy especially if the yarn doesn't slip through easily.

I remembered a friend asking me if I think crocheting is difficult. I can sense she's curious. Whenever I see a chance to encourage someone to try out a new hobby, I go ahead and do so. I said "It's actually fun." She nodded. "I suppose it's not too difficult. It's just pulling and turning, afterall." In my mind, she's already dead. But then I thought, well I need to forgive her. She know not what she says.

The Challenge

I have already stated the challenges I am going through with the project. Now, it's your turn. I need you to guess the WIP project I'm working on right now. The first three commenters to guess the project correctly will receive 1 SBI shares each. To know more about SBI, head on to this post.

This challenge will run for one week. Don't worry if you did not guess it correctly or if you weren't the first three correct guessers. Everyone that will try to guess in the comments section will share the liquid earnings of this post. Everyone's a winner!

I have disclosed my project to two beautiful ladies for validation purposes. @czera and @neumannsalva. I trust they won't turn against me. lol. Thank you ladies for helping me out. :) They will vouch for me when I finally reveal the final product after 7 days.

Feel free to reblog this post for more visibility. Please do upvote in order to increase the prize pot. And most importantly, I hope you enjoy trying to guess and if you're not yet into crocheting, I hope this challenge piques your interest. :)
