Tutorial of how I designed a yoke on bodice dress mixing a fabric and tulle

Hello Hive and beloved needleworkers.

Each time I try to make something unique for needlework Monday project but once in a while some 'isshh' will just chip in their heads and the works becomes imperfect such that I will be left with some correctional adjustments to make.

Not much harm was done today 😂😂 except that working with the tulle taught me a lesson, once you have your measurements perfect the tulle(Nets gets to expand and add additional length to the measurements, once this stretches so much you will not get a perfect top just like the one I made today.

The yoke expended at the shoulder area

The armhole and shoulder got out of fitting at the pics above as a result of the expanded tulle.
A possible solution is to remove the tulle and use a more stable black fabric that does not stress.

The making process.

I made a simple basic bodice and cut out a 6inches length yoke because I was trying out how to combine fabrics and colors I used a plain black tulle for the yoke and the patterned material for the bodice.

I used the yoke pattern to cut both the front and back tulle and stitched it up here.
I also doubled the tulle for a more thicker covering.

Next I cut out the other half bodice, but because I wanted to create a lovely gathers I used X3 of my chest measurements, that's is I added extra allowance to the bodice and used the pattern to create the armhole at the extreme end of the pattern.

Next I pulled the fabrics into some nice pleats, cut out a straight rectangular sleeve that was also pulled into a gathers and attached to the bodice.

This was completed and that's what my yoke on bodice top looks like. You can chose to wear it freely like that or with a beautiful band not like the left over pieces I tied around my waist 😂😂😂

Note the tulle correction

And don't forget the tulle correction I mentioned, you can chose to cut out your measurements of the tulle to a one inch less than the actual measurements such that It can always have a good fitting even if it stretches.

Thanks for your time and patience in learning how I made my top
