How to cut and sew a Shirt with collar

Hello Hive.

Its yet another needlework day and today am showing us my first attempt at making a shirt.

Sewing a shirt and its collar is something I have never tried before since I entered into fashion and designing, this is a practical learning experience for me and am not expecting a perfect job but something worth it or presentable at least.

Now Here is the final picture of the shirt.

This shirt was made in a male pattern method with initial cutting of fabric using the shoulder waist and full length.

The placement of shoulder line in make and female outfits differ and the neckline as well, that can be seen in the illustration contained in the images

The center back is usually folded forward to overlap the center front after creating the initial shoulder line.

Stitching

After cutting these out, next was stitching of the seams, shoulder lines and side seams.

The collar

This is the aspect I faced some challenges. After drafting a pattern with this process and measurement in the images

The collar and collar stand are both 1.5 inches width and 16.5 inches long according to the length of the neckline.

The shaping of the collar stand

While I made an extension of 2 inches for the the collar tip
I had no collar stay at home so I used the normal paper stay which was effective in holding the collar up, after making the pattern, I had it place on a wine fabric similar to the pattern on the cloth and cut out.
Stitched and attached to the neckline of the shirt, I noticed that the collar tip was too long and also the final width of the collar was too high because of the seam allowances I added while cutting the collar.

Okay 😂😂😂
I loosen out the collar and trimmed it off a little and that what I got in the end.

Although the perfect shape of collar and its stand wasn't achieved but am sure to get better at the next attempt.
And these would needing some button holes and sleeve if they look a little presentable for someone to wear.

Thanks for viewing and reading to the end of this post.
