Hello Hiveians
Today like one of two low days of mine is characterized by sluggish movements and lazy work around the house.
The rains are still very much heavy here and malaria is quite endemic, almost everyone in the house had an episode of malaria.
We took proper care but I was worst hit I guess, took almost a week to regain strength.
I had no fabric in the house to work with so I made a quick drop in town to get this two lovely materials
A white velvet I intend to use for a turban cap and this other material for embellishing.
I had a flat battery and would have given you some lovely pictures of the store, my supplier just got some new set of lovely fabrics that any designer would want to have at first sight
This is purely hand stitched because I want to sit down well relaxed while I lazily get this done besides i can't paddle yet as am still on some drugs that get me drowsy and a little dizzy every now and then.
To make the rose.
A straight 2 inches cut of which the length was 17 here.
Next was a gathering with hand needle to to form this desired shape
And oooppsss 😬 A mistake
A wrong stitch that made me start all over again.
The rose is meant to sit somewhere in the cap, I hope you have the patience and time to read till the end.
Now let's make the cap.
This is like my third design for a turban cap, they are all coming in different colors and shapes.
This is 23inches head size and 18inches length for the cap.
The idea was to get a semi circle in this shape
And gather round the edges except the hem for head band
This isn't too stressful except for the part were the gathering thread keeps breaking and I have to start all over again, a bit depressing I must confess.
This is the last important part I want to show us.
Just tie the two threads from both end where I started and finished the gathers.
The worst happened when I forgot the fabric gum, I wrote a list before leaving the house and had my kid sis play with it until I forgot.
The glue is meant to hold the rose and cap together.
I wouldn't be showing my face today, I lost a little weight I had Stacey model it for me
For a final piece of advice, the velvet fabric was too stretchy for this purpose and the measurements expanded beyond what I desired.
A less stretchy scuba would do a perfect job.
Everything now put together and I can settle in for more rest.
Thanks for staying through till the end.
