Cuando reinicié a tejer con el crochet (ganchillo) quise tejer de todo. Y en esa búsqueda de opciones a tejer, miré este bolso y quise aprender a diseñar las distintas figuras que mostraban allí. Recuerdo que en esas fechas no contaba con suficientes colores de hilo, por eso lo dejé por mucho tiempo. El mes pasado, una amiga de Hive, publicó la importancia de estos bolsos Wayuu y lo lindo que es aprender a tejer junto a las artesanas de la zona. Esa experiencia fue uno de los impulsos para retomar el tejido del bolso y esta vez lo terminé. Otro impulso, fue el hecho de salir más seguido a las calles, ya sea para realizar compras durante la semana o entregar pedidos. Además, cuento con más tonos de colores de hilos y eso agiliza las ideas para la combinación de estos.
When I started crocheting again I wanted to knit everything. And in that search of options to knit, I looked at this bag and I wanted to learn how to design the different figures that were shown there. I remember that at that time I didn't have enough yarn colours, so I left it for a long time. Last month, a friend of Hive, published the importance of these Wayuu bags and how nice it is to learn to weave with the artisans of the area. That experience was one of the impulses to start weaving the bag again and this time I finished it. Another impulse was to go out on the streets more often, either to shop during the week or to deliver orders. Also, I have more shades of yarn colours and that speeds up the ideas for the combination of yarns.
Por otro lado, Helena de “Ahuyama crochet” trabaja con retos crocheriles. Recuerdo que no llegué a participar en ese reto video tutorial porque cuando conocí su canal ya estaban en otro reto. En realidad, tejer este bolso sí fue un verdadero reto para mí, porque se trabaja con doble hebra (o hilo grueso) y con un crochet de 4mm. Además, mis manos están acostumbradas a tejer ajustado y cuando se trata de tejer bolsos, blusas, chompas, etc. los puntos son más sueltos y me quedan medios deformes (ajustados y sueltos de manera intercalada).
On the other hand, Helena from "Ahuyama crochet" works with crochet challenges. I remember that I didn't get to participate in that challenge video tutorial because when I found out about her channel they were already working on another challenge. Actually, knitting this bag was a real challenge for me, because it is made with double strand (or thick yarn) and with a 4mm crochet. Besides, my hands are used to knitting tight and when it comes to knitting bags, blouses, jumpers, etc. the stitches are looser and I get half deformed (tight and loose in an intercalated way).
Materiales /materials:
- Hilos de algodón (8 hebras) / Cotton thread (8 strands)
- crochet 4 mm
- tijera / scissor
- aguja lanera / wool needle
- marcador de vueltas / lap scoreboard
A tejer/ To weave:
Para tejer este bolso, lo principal es tener en mente el tamaño final. Por ejemplo, el de la imagen tiene una base de 25cm de largo (Fig.1). Luego el tejido fue recto. Otra peculiaridad del estilo tapestry es que todo el tejido fue por la hebra de atrás. Las figuras de los diseños los descargué de su página web (Fig. 2 y 3).
To knit this bag, the main thing to keep in mind is the final size. For example, the one in the picture has a base length of 25 centimetres (Fig.1). Then the weaving was straight. Another peculiarity of the tapestry style is that all the weaving was by the back thread. I downloaded the figures of the designs from their website (Fig. 2 and 3).
Al inicio coloqué colores pasteles, luego coloqué la gama de verdes y colores contrastantes (fig. 4, 5 y 6). Eso sí, fue un poco complicado pensar qué color seguiría para la siguiente figura. Este bolso fue el resultado de seguir paso a paso el video, para la próxima si pienso cambiarle los diseños.
At the beginning I placed pastel colours, then I placed the range of greens and contrasting colours (fig. 4, 5 and 6). It was a bit complicated to think which colour I would use for the next figure. This bag was the result of following the video step by step, for the next one I will change the designs.
Por último, le agregué un limón en tejido plano a manera de botón. Y el asa, esta mide unos 1.20m de largo.
Finally, I added a flat woven lemon as a button. And the handle, this one is about 1.20m long.
