Esta publicación será algo singular y viene gracias a la iniciativa de @irenenavarroart. Veremos algunos cambios importantes que se dieron a lo largo de los años y no solo en el crochet, sino la vida es un camino de aprendizaje continuo. ¡Preparados, listos, vamos!

Los inicios / The beginnings
Inicié con el crochet cuando tenía 8 ó 9 años. Mi mamá y hermano fueron quienes me enseñaron a manejar el crochet (cadenetas y el punto bajo). En ese tiempo tejía ropa para mis muñecas, entre vestidos, bolcitos, mochilas, gorritos, botines, chalinas…en fin, las muñecas quedaban satisfechas. En ese tiempo creo que hasta inventaba puntos, jaja.
I started crocheting when I was 8 or 9 years old. My mother and brother were the ones who taught me how to crochet (chain stitch and single crochet). At that time I used to knit clothes for my dolls, including dresses, little balls, backpacks, hats, booties, scarves...in short, the dolls were satisfied. At that time I think I even invented stitches, haha.
En los últimos años del colegio, quería estudiar en la Escuela de Arte de Lima, costura, diseño de modas o chef. En el último año del colegio, asistí a una feria de carrera, donde los precios de las carreras antes mencionadas estaban por las nubes, por lo que tuve que cambiar de opción de inmediato. Justo en esa feria, estuvo una academia donde preparaban a los chicos para el ingreso de la Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina. Lo curioso fue cuando supe la existencia de la carrera de agronomía. Luego de mil y un aventuras, terminé la carrera y mientras trabajaba, sentía que faltaba algo...
In the last years of high school, I wanted to study at the Escuela de Arte de Lima, sewing, fashion design or chef. In the last year of school, I attended a career fair, where the prices of the aforementioned careers were sky high, so I had to change my choice immediately. Right at that fair, there was an academy where they were preparing students for entrance to the Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina. The curious thing was when I found out about the existence of the agronomy course. After a thousand and one adventures, I finished my degree and while I was working, I felt that something was missing...
Desempolvando el crochet / Dusting off crochet
A mediados del 2018, pasaba varios días tratando de reciclar unas piezas del laboratorio, tenía la idea de convertirlos en llaveros. Un día navegando por la internet, observé llaveros tejidos. Y pensé en buscar el crochet ni bien llegase a casa. Lo primero que tejí fue el osito rosa y le hice un chalequito para que quedara elegante, jaja. Al notar lo deforme que me quedó, vi videos tutoriales en Youtube y aprendí a tejer el anillo mágico, aumentos y disminuciones. Con esos conocimientos tejí a Ninja Bomberman (azul y rosa)…recuerdo que me sentí tan bien porque era una pieza única, le puse su llaverito y de inmediato a la mochila, jaja. Seguí practicando con formas sencillas como el helado (seguí un patrón). Cuando tejí a Eric Cartman (con gorro y chompa roja), también seguí un patrón. Lo curioso fue que la gorra tenía que estar cosida a la cabeza, era la 1era vez que cosía una prenda al cuerpo y no sabía cómo hacer para que quedase bien y me pregunté ¿cómo puede ser que no sepa coser?...sonó raro, pero hasta esa fecha solo había cosido prendas de vestir, mochilas, zapatillas pero no amigurumis. En la imagen de la derecha, se muestra amigurumis pequeños y llaveros. Ahora, además de aprender a coser una de las partes que más disfruto del tejido es la unión de las piezas (quizá suene sarcástico).
In the middle of 2018, I spent several days trying to recycle some pieces from the lab, I had the idea of turning them into key rings. One day while surfing the internet, I noticed knitted key rings. And I thought I'd look for crochet as soon as I got home. The first thing I knitted was the pink teddy bear and I made a little shawl to make it look elegant, haha. When I noticed how deformed it was, I watched tutorial videos on Youtube and learned how to knit the magic ring, increases and decreases. With that knowledge I knitted Ninja Bomberman (blue and pink)...I remember I felt so good because it was a unique piece, I put his keychain on it and immediately put it in the backpack, haha. I kept practicing with simple shapes like ice cream (I followed a pattern). When I knitted Eric Cartman (with a cap and red jumper), I also followed a pattern. The funny thing was that the cap had to be sewn to the head, it was the first time I sewed a garment to the body and I didn't know how to make it look good and I asked myself how can it be that I don't know how to sew... it sounded strange, but until then I had only sewn clothes, backpacks, slippers but not amigurumis. The picture on the right shows small amigurumis and key rings. Now, as well as learning to sew, one of the parts I enjoy most about knitting is the joining of the pieces together (perhaps that sounds sarcastic).
Esto lo digo varias veces y espero mencionarlo menos. En el 2018, solo encontraba hilos de algodón de cuatro colores (rosado, negro, rojo y blanco) y eso me desanimó por un tiempo. Por ello, utilizaba otros hilos que no eran para amigurumis. Estos hilos tenían la ventaja de contar con una gama de colores, estos eran tan variados que a veces eran irrepetibles. Por ejemplo, un día se había terminado una madejita y cuando quise comprarla de nuevo ya no había y hasta ahora no hay. Así que cuando llegaron los hilos de algodón de colores, quise ver la diferencia y tejí algunos patrones anteriores (la emoción, jaja).
I say this several times and hope to mention it less. In 2018, I could only find cotton yarns in four colours (pink, black, red and white) and that put me off for a while. So I used other yarns that were not for amigurumis. These yarns had the advantage of having a range of colours, but they were so varied that sometimes they were unrepeatable. For example, one day I had run out of a skein and when I wanted to buy it again there was no more and still there is none. So when the coloured cotton yarns arrived, I wanted to see the difference and I knitted some previous patterns (the excitement, jaja).
Hablando de patrones, al inicio desconocía sobre los patrones de pago y creía que era normal tejerlos. Ahora, sé todo el esfuerzo que hay detrás de un patrón. Y trato de diseñarlos, como este cachorrito.
Talking about patterns, at the beginning I didn't know about payment patterns and I thought it was normal to knit them. Now, I know all the effort behind a pattern. And I try to design them, like this puppy.
Figura izquierda: A mediados del 2020, sentí que los tejidos personalizados carecían de un estilo.
Figura derecha: Por eso, a finales de ese mismo año diseñé patrones propios de amigurumis personalizados. Aunque, si bien utilizo ojitos de seguridad también me agrada bordarlos.

Luego de tejer tantas formas de amigurumis ya estoy uniformizando un estilo, al menos para los pequeños. Ahora estoy rediseñando los amigurumis medianos y grandes.
A lo largo de este recorrido también me acompañó la comunidad Needleworkmonday, fue como un respaldo de los miembros y los curadores. Tengo varios planes para el corto y mediano plazo y haré todo lo posible para cumplirlos.
After knitting so many amigurumi shapes I'm already standardizing a style, at least for the small ones. Now I'm redesigning the medium and large amigurumis.
Throughout this journey I was also accompanied by the Needleworkmonday community, it was like a support from the members and the curators. I have several plans for the short and medium term and I will do my best to fulfil them.
