Amazing Nature Contest - July 2021 - #02

Good evening!
I was surprised by an unexpected guest ... He found a place for himself and wove a larger net .... I watched him make a net for a while, and that fascinated me, and quickly ....

Here are some interesting facts about these "terrible" animals ....

He wove a fairly large net ... He performed it gracefully .... And wonderfully .... I let him finish the net .... Because he felt I was there and ran away ....

Throughout human history, spiders have appeared in myths, legends and symbols, just as often as positive and negative phenomena. However, it is probably the most popular and well-known myth about their origin.

According to records from Ancient Greece, Arachne was a very hard-working girl from Lydia, famous for her weaving skills. The nymphs often visited her and admired her skill. She wove fabrics as airy as air from thread like clouds. So proud of her skills, Arachne challenged the goddess Athena to a duel in weaving. Her work in the competition did not lag behind Athena's, but her disrespect for the gods was obvious in the pictures. Athena got angry, tore up the work and, as a punishment, turned it into a spider to spin the silk from her body forever. Accordingly, and considering that in Greek "Arachne" means spider, this name was used to call the class of spider-like animals Arachnida (Arachnida) in biology.

Here is an interesting legend about how the dream catcher was created ....

I love him very much 🥰

The legend of the spider and grandmother (Ojibwa tribe (Chippewa))
The spider was quietly weaving its web beside the bed of Nokomis, the old grandmother. Every day Nokomis watched the spider do its job, weaving a web in silence. One day, while she was watching the spider's efforts, her grandson entered the room.
"Nokomsi-iya!" he shouted looking at the spider. He flew towards him, grabbing his shoe to hit him with it.
"NO-Keegwa," the old woman whispered, "don't hurt him."
"Nokomis, why are you protecting the spider?" the toddler asked.
The old woman smiled, but said nothing. When the boy left, the spider approached the old woman to thank her for saving his life. He told her:
"For many days you watched me knit and spin my net. You admired my efforts. In return, since you saved my life, I want to give you something."
He smiled his characteristic spidery smile and walked away, weaving his way through the net.
Soon the moon came out and illuminated with its faint light the silvery net that swayed slightly in the window.
"Do you see me knitting? Watch and learn, because every net stops bad dreams. Only beautiful dreams can go through a small hole in the middle of the net. This is my gift to you. Use it to always remember beautiful dreams. Bad dreams will get entangled in network and it won't hurt you. "

I hope you had fun hanging out with this "terrible" creature ...
