I recently wrote a post about bees. In this post I called these so useful insects devoted workers, soldiers in constant combat gear, ie. beings who perform their extremely important role on earth every minute, without a second of lost time - all their time, their whole life is devoted to this constant and life-saving activity of theirs.
But today I'm thinking about ants. And they are constantly dedicated workers, small soldiers in constant combat gear, constantly performing their role on the battlefield of their daily lives.
Workers and soldiers - two words that can be used for both types of insects.
But is this true? Yes, ants are tireless workers. Just like bees. But what do they really do. Is their activity so life-saving?
I have heard that nowadays it is very fashionable to take an anthill with ants as a pet, because it has had a very instructive effect on growing children.
But all I know from personal experience about these tireless workers is that every day I have to sweep away shovels full of sand from the tiles of the alleys in the yard and around our house. Because they tirelessly take it out of the ground and pile it out on the tiles. They drill holes between the tiles and from time to time even make their way into the house - in the kitchen or the bedroom.
They fill the cat food bowls when there is any leftover food, line up and start exporting it.
They occupy and cover whole bones, if there are any left over from their food, they occupy and cover everything that has any nutritional value, although we humans do not see one - in animal remains, even carrion.
And in a strange way, they find these remains very quickly, wherever they are. And because of their sense of smell, I call them "dogs."
And yes, they are relentless workers, but isn't everything they do done only for themselves? Ok, not selfish only for themselves, as people do, but only for their community and nothing more.
And in this sense - are there creatures on this planet that can be compared to the bees?
And in general - are the bees from this planet?
Because for some time I have the obsessive idea that everything good on this planet is not from this planet.
(I hope you are aware of how fast these tireless workers move and how difficult it is to take pictures of them.)
Have a wonderful, meaningful and different Sunday!
