For this reason today (Thursday) I went to take some plastic containers to be reused as cleaning product containers with Dinora, one of my former students.
Por este motivo, hoy (jueves) fui a llevar unos recipientes plásticos para ser reutilizados como envases de productos de limpieza, con Dinora una de mis exalumna.
When I arrived at the address he gave me, I was greeted by three (3) beautiful Guayacanes Margariteño, planted more than thirty years ago by his mother-in-law, a native of Margarita Island, Nueva Esparta State, Venezuela.
Cuando llegué a la dirección que me indicó fui recibida por tres (3) hermosos Guayacanes Margariteño, sembrados hace más de treinta años por su suegra, oriunda de la isla de Margarita, estado Nueva Esparta, Venezuela.
These Guayacanes reminded me of my primary school, "Andrés Eloy Blanco" in Colinas del Neverí, Anzoátegui state, because nearby there were a couple of these trees, which captivated my attention since I was a child, because of their tall and strong trunks with nuanced green bark, like a carefully embroidered tapestry.
Estos Guayacanes me recordaron a mi escuela primaria, “Andrés Eloy Blanco” en Colinas del Neverí, estado Anzoátegui, porque en su cercanía había un par de estos árboles, que cautivaron mi atención desde niña, por sus troncos altos y fuertes de corteza verde matizada, como un tapiz bordado cuidadosamente.
I discovered with them the fun of looking for and imagining enigmatic shapes and figures in their beautiful green trunks with ethereal ochre shades. Nature is grandiose and surprising in all its expressions. It offers us unique and masterfully crafted works of art.
Descubrí con ellos lo divertido de buscar e imagirnarse enigmáticas formas y figuras, en sus hermosos troncos verdes con etéreos matices ocres. La naturaleza es grandiosa y sorprende en todas sus expresiones. Nos ofrece obras artísticas únicas elaboradas de manera magistral.
They also revealed the fascination and enigma of gazing at the sky through the lattice of tree branches, and the sublime caress of the sun's warm rays on my face under this natural screen.
Asimismo, develaron lo fascinante y enigmático de mirar el cielo a través del entramado de las ramas de los árboles, y lo sublime de la caricia de los cálidos rayos del sol en mi rostro bajo esta pantalla natural.

The Guayacán Margariteño is so called because it is considered a symbolic representative of the flora of Margarita Island, where it grows in abundance as it is an arid tropical zone.
El Guayacán Margariteño, es denominado de esta manera por ser considerado un simbólico representante de la flora de la isla de Margarita, donde crece en abundancia por ser una zona tropical árida.
It is highly appreciated by the natives of this state and throughout the eastern region. They are part of the identity of the people of Margarita, who plant them in their homes and public places, to indicate "Here is a Margariteño".
Es muy apreciado por los oriundos de este estado y en toda la región oriental. Forman parte de la identidad de los margariteños, quienes lo siembran en sus hogares y sitios públicos, para indicar “Por aquí está un margariteño” .
Its scientific name is Guaicum officinale”, it is also known by various popular names such as: tree of life, guaiac, guaiac of the West Indies, palo santo of America. It is also the national tree of Jamaica, a charming Caribbean island.
Su nombre científico es Guaicum officinale ”, también es conocido con diversos nombres populares entre ellos: árbol de la vida, guayaco, guayacán de las Antillas, palo santo de América. Asimismo es el árbol nacional de Jamaica, encantadora isla caribeña.
This tree is an ornamental evergreen, long-lived (50 to 70 years) and slow growing, even though it can grow up to 20 metres high and its trunk can reach 60 centimetres in width.
Este árbol es ornamental perenne, de vida prolongada (50 a 70 años) y de lento desarrollo, aun cuando llega a crecer hasta 20 metros de altura y su tronco puede alcanzar 60 centímetros de ancho.
In Venezuelan popular culture, it is associated with strength and longevity, which gave rise to the phrase "Strong as a guaiac"”, allegorical to this statement.

I greeted them lovingly, caressing their trunk, thanking them for the shade that often sheltered me on my way out of school when it rained or on very hot days.

Since I was a child I have loved to touch, look at and smell the trees, and I still do it wherever I go.

La ausencia de niños y el silencio, hicieron que florecieran en mi memoria el bullicio a la entrada y salida de clases, los juegos con mis amiguitos, las celebraciones y actos culturales, nuestras abnegadas maestras, una mezcla intensa de emociones.
