The flower of the photo is “Carpobrotus edulis” also known as sour fig or hottentot-fig. It grows along the ground and it has succulent leaves. It is native from South Africa. It is quite common on the parks of Antofagasta (Chile) (mainly in spring), where I took this photo.

El nombre científico de la flor de la foto es “Carpobrotus edulis” también conocida como uña de gato. Su planta es rastrera, tiene hojas carnosas y es originaria de Sudáfrica. Es bastante común en los parques de Antofagasta (principalmente en primavera), donde tomé esta fotografía.

I show the photo in its original color and different versions on black and white. One of the objective of this post is to show how an image can have very different black and white versions, depending of how they are processed. In the particular cases of #flowers, this can have quite interesting effects. You can see here how the images differ form one to the other.

Muestro la foto en su color original y diferentes versiones en blanco y negro. Uno de los objetivos de este post es mostrar cómo se puede cambiar una imagen al usar diferentes métodos para procesarla y convertirla en monocromática. En el caso particular de flores se pueden obtener efectos bien interesantes.
