Hace unos días visité el Parque Zoológico Bararida, ubicado en Barquisimeto, el cual, según la información suministrada por los guías, alberga 185 especies (53 mamíferos, 52 aves, 42 reptiles, 1 anfibio, 2 artrópodos, 35 peses y aproximadamente 150 especies botánicas).
Sus instalaciones actualmente no están en óptimas condiciones, más sin embargo, pasas un rato ameno con el contacto con la naturaleza, sus espacios verdes son agradables y conforma un pulmón vegetal en el centro de la ciudad.
Hello my dear friends of the hive, today I would like to express a topic on the platform that for me is controversial, because of its divergence of opinions.
A few days ago I visited the Bararida Zoo, located in Barquisimeto, which, according to the information provided by the guides, houses 185 species (53 mammals, 52 birds, 42 reptiles, 1 amphibian, 2 arthropods, 35 fish and approximately 150 botanical species).
Its facilities are currently not in optimal conditions, but nevertheless, you spend a pleasant time in contact with nature, its green spaces are pleasant and it forms a green lung in the centre of the city.
Al recorrer este recinto natural, surgieron varias preguntas en mi interior:
¿Es realmente un espacio de conservación animal?
¿Las condiciones de salubridad, alimentación, salud y de espacio son las adecuadas para los animales?
¿Es un espacio de recreación o una cárcel animal?
Seguía caminando y recordaba la película Madagascar y me reía al imaginar, los animales en la noche en una fiesta y de pronto sentí culpa, e imaginé si fuéramos los humanos que estuviéramos en un espacio cerrado, fuera de nuestro hábitat y empecé a responderme cada pregunta.
As I walked through this natural enclosure, several questions arose within me:
Is it really an animal conservation area?
Are the conditions of sanitation, food, health and space adequate for the animals?
Is it a space for recreation or an animal prison?
I kept walking and I remembered the movie Madagascar and I laughed as I imagined the animals at night at a party and suddenly I felt guilt, and I imagined if we were humans in an enclosed space, outside our habitat and I started to answer each question.
¿Es realmente un espacio de conservación animal?
Definitivamente no, las condiciones no son idóneas, los recursos son muy limitados y en vez de coadyuvar a estas especies en peligro, están albergadas entre carencias, desatención y sufrimiento.
¿Es un espacio de recreación o una cárcel animal?
Los seres humanos somos macabros e infames, para nosotros es un espacio de recreación, pero a través del maltrato animal y de coartar su libertad, en conclusión me respondí, es una cárcel animal, para satisfacer deseos sádicos del hombre.
Ahora bien si se adecuará un sitio condicionado, para cuidar animales en peligro de extinción y se tuvieran por lapsos determinados o en sus ciclos reproductivos y los regresarán a su hábitat, fuera lo idóneo, pero simplemente en el sitio que me divertí y rei viendo animales cautivos, no es así.
Is it really an animal conservation space?
Definitely not, the conditions are not ideal, the resources are very limited and instead of helping these endangered species, they are sheltered amidst deprivation, neglect and suffering.
Is it a space for recreation or an animal prison?
Human beings are macabre and infamous, for us it is a space for recreation, but through animal abuse and restricting their freedom, in conclusion I answered myself, it is an animal prison, to satisfy the sadistic desires of man.
Now, if a conditioned place were to be adapted, to take care of animals in danger of extinction and to keep them for determined periods of time or in their reproductive cycles and return them to their habitat, it would be ideal, but simply in the place where I had fun and laughed seeing captive animals, it is not like that.
