Edible weed - Shepherd's Purse

Shepherd's Purse field 2.jpg

Another cool weed. But this time not a new one. I know this one since I was a kid. We used to pick those little hearts and eat them. I don't even remember who told me about it... but that's what I did. Straight from the field. No washing.
And I survived :p

Capsella bursa-pastoris

Also knows as Shepherd's Purse it is one of the most common weeds out there. It's also one of those almost invisible ones. Super tiny flowers, not bigger than 2mm, skinny stems, the hearts, which are seed pods are also just around 0.5 cm across. But it grows almost everywhere and can be found around lawns, fields nearly all year round. I am sure many of you have seen it.

As I motioned it is an edible one and the easiest way would be just pick some (just please, make sure you pick the right thing, of you are not sure - don't) and use it in salads for example.

It is a common weed and there is quite a lot of info online about it's usage if you are interested.

Or just pick those little pods and sprinkle all over sandwiches
