Hello nature lovers I am designing the garden for the GREEN HOME and that includes the reproduction of some plants, this time we did the planting by cuttings of the Coleus or also known as Garden Carpet, I really do not know why they call it carpet, because this plant is actually a shrub that can reach up to one meter high, this beautiful tropical plant has a variety of colors that dresses the spaces and certainly will give much showiness and beauty to our garden.
This time it was with the best of company, planting is a rewarding activity to do with the family and especially with the little ones, reinforcing the value and love for nature.
Coleus or Shade Carpet
This colorful plant is not only beautiful, it is also used in other countries for hypertension, asthma, erectile dysfunction and heart disease, among other things. In the case of Venezuela it is only used as a decorative plant, these are tropical plants originating from Africa and Asia.
This mother plant will be the source of reproduction for new plants. Reproduction by cuttings is very easy using a mother plant, these are plants developed enough to be reproduced. This mother plant already needed a change of fertilized soil for the one that we also gave her love.
You must choose the cuttings from the mother plant's superiors. In this photo I give an example, that they have at least 3 fingers of stem for the sowing.
One of the most important things to achieve success in planting Coleus is the soil, the soil should be loose and should be fertilized, these plants require good drainage. The soil in them should remain moist but not be choked.
I usually sow 2 or 3 cuttings of each plant per pot or bag because then they will be replanted in the garden, but if it is in pot I recommend you to sow 1 or 2 to give it more chance of development, depending on the size of the pot.

The sowing by cuttings is very easy, these plants are of fast growth and can become very leafy bushes, they require pruning to advance in the growth and also of the minimum fertilizer must be fertilized once a month.
Coleus or Carpet Coleus are shade plants that need to receive indirect sun, they are excellent for indoors or in the garden as long as they do not receive direct light.
If your Coleus or Garden Carpet loses color, colorfulness or is drying out it may be receiving too much direct light or too little light, although it is a shade plant it needs sunlight, its soil should be wet but not drowned. If something like this happens do not worry change its soil, place it in shade with sunshine, do a little pruning of its stems and it will come back. Remember to fertilize her once a month, this will keep her beautiful.

Sembrando plantas por esquejes | Coleus o Alfombra de Jardín 🌱
Hola amantes de la naturaleza estoy diseñando el jardín para el HOGAR VERDE y eso incluye la reproducción de algunas plantas, esta vez las hicimos la siembra por esquejes de la Coleus o tambien conocida como Alfombra de Jardín, realmente no se porque la llaman alfombra, pues esta planta en realidad es un arbusto que puede llegar a medir hasta un metro de alto, esta hermosa planta tropical tienen variedad de colores que viste los espacios y que sin duda le darán mucha vistosidad y belleza nuestro jardín.
Está vez fue con la mejor de las compañías, la siembra es una actividad gratificante para hacer en familia y sobre todo con las y los más pequeños, reforzar el valor y amor por la naturaleza.
Coleus o Alfombra de Sombra
Esta planta llena de colores no solo tiene belleza también es usadas en otros países para la hipertensión, asma, difuncion eréctil y la cardiopatía, entre otras cosas. En el caso de Venezuela solo es usada como planta decorativa.Estas son plantas tropicales de originarias de África y Asia.
Esta planta madre será la fuente de reproducción para nuevas plantas. La reproducción por esquejes es muy fácil usando una planta madre, estas son planta lo suficientemente desarrolladas para ser reproducidas. Está planta madre ya necesitaba cambio de tierra abonada por la que a ella también le dimos cariño
Debes elegir los esquejes de superiores de la planta madre. En esta foto doy un ejemplo , que como mínimo tengan 3 dedos de tallo para la siembra.
Una de las cosas mas importantes para lograr el éxito de la siembra de Coleus es la tierra, la tierra debe ser Suelta y debe estar abonada estas plantas requieren buen drenaje. La tierra en ellas debe permanecer húmeda mas no estar ahogadas.
Yo suelo sembrar 2 o 3 esquejes de cada plantas por maceta o bolsa porque luego seran replantadas en el jardin , pero si es en maceta te recomiendo que siembre 1 o 2 para darle mas posibilidad de desarrollo, dependiendo del tamaño de la maceta.

La siembra por esqueje es muy fácil, estas plantas son de crecimiento rápido y pueden llegar a ser arbustos muy frondosos, ellas requieren de podas par avanzar en el crecimiento y también del abono mínimo debe ser abonada 1 vez al mes.
El Coleus o alfombra son plantas de sombra que necesitan recibir sol de manera indirecta, son excelentes para el interior de la casa o para el jardín mientras no este recibiendo luz directa.
Si tu Coleus o Alfombra de Jardín pierde color, vistosidad o se esta secando puede que este recibiendo mucha luz directa o muy poca luz, aunque es una planta se sombra necesita luz solar, su tierra debe estar mojada pero no ahogada. Si algo así pasa no te preocupes cambia su tierra colocala en sombra con rayitos de sol , haz una pequeña poda de sus tallos y ella regresara. Recuerda abonarla 1 vez al mes esto la mantendrá hermosa.
