¡Hola a todos! Para iniciar la semana quiero compartir con ustedes las fotos de una adorable rana que visitó mi casa. Se trata de la Ranita Monte Iberia. Participando así en el concurso de AMAZING NATURE COMMUNITY
This tiny amphibian is native to Cuba, and can also be found in some regions of North America. It is barely 1 centimeter in diameter and can be seen very active during the day. At night it usually sings, very loudly for its small size.
Este diminuto anfibio es originario de Cuba y también se puede encontrar en algunas regiones de América del norte. Tiene apenas 1 centímetro de diámetro y se puede ver muy activa durante el día. Por las noches acostumbra a cantar, muy fuerte para ese pequeño tamaño que tiene.

My little friends came into the kitchen. I had to jump behind them in order to take their picture. I must confess that I let them stay in the vegetable basket for a few days.
Mis amiguitas entraron a la cocina. Tuve que saltar detrás de ellas para poder tomarles la fotografía. Debo confesar que dejé que se quedaran unos días entre la canasta de las verduras.

In Cuba there is a great diversity of exotic species that are autochthonous and the Ranita Monte Iberia is the smallest amphibian it boasts. Normally it can be found in the province of Holguin in green areas. But there can be sightings in other provinces, like in my house which is located in the province of Camagüey.
En Cuba existe una gran diversidad de especies exóticas que son autóctonas y la Ranita Monte Iberia es el anfibio más pequeño que ostenta. Normalmente se puede encontrar en la provincia de Holguín en las áreas verdes. Pero pueden darse avistamientos en otras provincias, como en mi casa que se encuentra en la provincia de Camagüey.
It is said that this small frog can secrete poisonous substances through its skin, since its diet is based on arachnids that concentrate toxins that the frog digests and then expels them through its skin when it is threatened.
They can be of different bright and flashy colors. The 2 that visited me had a light brown color with 2 light orange stripes and black spots, the smaller of the 2. And the larger one was a dark brown color with black stripes that looked like stripes.
Se dice que esta pequeña ranita puede llegar a segregar por su piel sustancias venenosas, ya que su dieta está basada en arácnidos que concentran toxinas que la ranita digiere y luego las expulsa por su piel cuando se ve amenazada.
Puede ser de diversos colores brillantes y llamativos. Las 2 que me visitaron tenían un color café claro con 2 franjas naranja claro y pintas negras, la más pequeña de las 2. Y la más grande era de un color café oscuro con franjas negras que parecían rayas.
Ranita 1.The Ranita Monte Iberia is the third smallest amphibian in the world and the smallest in Cuba.

Ranita 2. Unfortunately this exotic species is in danger of extinction.
