Hace unos meses compre tres patos, dos hembras y un macho. Lamentablemente, una de las hembras no sobrevivió. Pasado los días un compadre trajo una pata para que le sirviera de refugió y los enseñaran a sentirse mejor en casa. Ellos por lo general nacen con las plumas amarillas y poco a poco van cambiando su pelaje.

Some months ago I bought three ducklings, two female and one male. Unfortunately, one of the females did not survive. After some days, a compadre brought an adult female to serve as foster mother and teach help them feel better at home. They usually are born with yellow feathers and slowly they change them into their final colors.

Les gusta mucho el agua. Cuando te acercas corren, pero poco a poco te van tomando confianza cuando lo vas alimentando. Se vuelven menos ariscos, defecan a cada instante, comen y beben mucha agua. También se desarrollan muy rápido.

They loved water. When you get close to them, they run, but slowly they learn to trust you as you feed them regularly. They become less unfriendly, but they defecate every second, eat and drink a lot and grow fast.

En estos días, no hemos podido ir al mercado a comprar el alimento. Entonces le damos arroz y otros desperdicios de pescado, cueros de pollo, sardina, aguacate y maíz.

We have not been able to go to the market and get them their special food, so we have been feeding them with rice and leftovers, chicken skin, sardines, avocado, and corn.

También el compadre trajo un pato para que la pisara, pero ya tiene más de un mes y no hace su trabajo. Estas aves cuentan con un plumón, que les ayuda a realizar diferentes actividades de flotación en la superficie del agua. Llegan a pesar entre unos 3,6 a 4,1 kilogramos aproximadamente. Una forma muy particular de como saber si hembra o macho esta en las plumas de la cola. En la hembra la cola se extiende hacia abajo, mientras que en el macho la cola va hacia arriba.

My compadre also brought a male duck to serve as stud, but it has been a month already and he has not done his work. These birds have special feathers that allow them to float and move on and under water. They can weigh 6 to 8 pounds. One curious way to know if thgey are male or female is by checking they tale feathers. In females, the tale leans downwards, while in males, it pups upwards.

En casa acondicioné un espacio para que ellos estén y hasta los momentos se van desarrollando muy bien. La intención es tener cría para poder consumir y vender en un futuro. Su carne es muy rica y se vende mucho en mi país.

I set up a space for them at home and so far, they are developing well. The plan is to breed them for home consumption and to sell. Their meet is delicious and coveted in our country.
