📷 Wawel Cathedral

The Royal Archcathedral Basilica of Saints Stanislaus and Wenceslaus is located on Wawel Hill in Krakow, Poland. Since Krakow was the capital of Poland for many years, the cathedral served at the same time as a court temple in which Polish kings were crowned, and in its underground tombs they were buried.

The current Gothic cathedral is the third building on this site: the first was built and destroyed in the 11th century, the second was destroyed by fire in the 14th century, the construction of the current one also began in the 14th century. In the following centuries, the cathedral was rebuilt many times and supplemented with chapels.

I think it is wonderful when such examples of ancient architecture as this cathedral have been preserved for centuries and are now surrounded by the attention and love of the townspeople and the interest of tourists.

It's better to watch the photo in high resolution.
