DATE PALM

I remember my surprise when, many years ago, I first saw a date palm with not yet ripe dates.
I didn't even immediately realize that these were dates!

Now this is familiar to me, because these date palms are not uncommon in Cyprus.
And not far from the high-rise building in which I live there is an embankment called "Finikoudes".
The embankment received this name because of the date palms planted on it.

The climate of Cyprus seems to be created for their cultivation.

The date palm is very sun-loving, photophilous, drought-resistant and easily tolerates high air temperatures.

At a temperature of -9 ° C and at high humidity, it dies, but this does not threaten it, because temperatures below 0 even in winter do not happen. Elimination of the mountain.
Palm trees are not afraid of strong winds, and they happen often.

Date palms begin to bear fruit in the 4th year of life.

I am very fond of dates, especially since they are rich in vitamins and microelements.

P.S. I photographed these date palms in Ayia Napa.

The photos I were taken with a Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L tablet
