Rain Day Deluge, Chores, Tortillas, Freeze Dryer Batch 83 Started - Wednesday

It dumped rain overnight and yesterday morning we had .63" in the gauge on the deck. This almost matched the rainfall we got on the 22nd of .65", but then it started raining again around 8:30am and did not stop until late afternoon.

The rain overnight had pushed from the south to the north and then in the morning I watched the doppler as it all got swirled around and then began pushing back south towards the farm.

By 9:00am it was DUMPING rain and it continued like this for the bulk of the day. There were occasional spots of little or no rain but then it would come back over and keep dumping. I used this as the sign that I would not be doing much outside during the day so I got my clothes washed and in the dryer first thing.

Much of the morning was spent on little chores around the house and it was after noon when I decided to make another batch of tortillas since the house was opened and cool. I added a big dollop of honey to the mix which is just noticeable in the cooked tortillas.

I got over 30 of them made and they are scrumptious when they are fresh of the grill.

I had to clean up a good bit first and get the dishwasher going before I could start cutting up tomatoes for the next batch in the freeze dryer. The tomatoes sit in paper bags on the table to finish ripening before getting set in the tub to get used. I have at least as many in bags as were in the tub.

I filled 3 trays with tomato pieces which didn't even finish off the tub of tomatoes.

Then I cut up some green bell peppers and needed to cut up one red pepper to fill the tray.

The last tray was ancho peppers cut in half and seeds removed. This should make them rather mellow and be able to add just a slight bit of spice to a V8 style drink mix.

The boys got the new Crunchlab box which is a pretty nifty air ball game. They are really cool project builds and has made J learn troubleshooting.

It had been a bit chilly all day with the rains and thick clouds so the soak felt good. My body was also in knots after having been standing in the kitchen for so long chopping stuff up or cooking.

The rain has moved off and it is nice and foggy this morning. We ended up with .45" for a total of 1.08" of rain in about 26 hours. Today I will hopefully get the next round of hay bales and get one into the sheep, I will for sure have harvests to do this morning, I'll have to get the trailer hooked up for a grain run tomorrow morning where I won't have a co-op delivery and the winds won't be right to fly. This weather has me thinking hard on the chainsaw work I need to get back going on as I have a tree to drop and a number to cut up still.
