The mall is very famous and the fact that you can go by train and subway from Rotterdam central station direct to the city centre is pretty cool, because its cheaper than by car due to the costs of parking. The shopping mall and shopping district is in the middle of the centre of the city of Utrecht and the walk you can do before or after the shopping, what also nice is, is if you stay along the canals and waters. With the tour boats. I always have to take some pictures. Like a tourist that wants to ride the boat. Utrecht also has a pindabutter store, a cheese market place and a shop where you can buy pepper nuts in all tastes. The mall is attached to the train station and you walk from the station hall into the mall. There are about 100 shops and outside there are some food trucks in the station square. On the square there are also many artists showing their dance moves, tik tok dances and musical qualities. It was dry so there were many people showing off. We had an intercity train so we were in the mall, after 30 minutes, just before all the shops opened and than you see the luxurious style and the white floors very well. I think it looks like Dubai malls, eventhough I never been to Dubai, and only looked at travelblogs on travelfeed. I read somewhere that here are 38 restaurants in the mall and surrounding the walls of the mall. The fact that we needed a lunch place made that a reassuring thought. The fact that we are vaccinated is a must and will help with a table aswell. The roof outside that connects the station is a place I photographed last year and blogged about it here on hive. I did that in a photofeed blog and looking at it now it looks like a muffinbaking thing. A big one! But maybe that is not what it’s called. We shopped , looked, we window shopped and bought craft supplies at the Swedish store sostrene grene. And amazing windows in the shops with a tiny bit of christmas things already. On the ground floor there are real trees which makes the mall even more beautiful. This is the front side of the mall, but there are so many exits that we left the building via a stairway on the left side and went under ground to the station alongside the bicycle garage. In the beginning of the blog I put a map and draw the size of the mall on. These pictures are from the troll we did in the city centre. Along the canals that are running through the city. In the canals are boats and along the canal down near the water there are terrasses. Some were closed due to the fact that in Holland there is no personell to hire and wait tables. I think people who are not from Holland all saw such a boat in movies or in brochures talking about Holland because every major city with water has these boats. Here the pictures from the train ride to Utrecht. Did you know that on the station you can change books for free. Its a The trip will cost you 5.70 euro the journey back and 5.70 euro forth. If you go by car it’s like 20 euro because of the parking fee. And because this is a place that is very busy, you never know if there will be a space to park the car for you and that will take away precious time away from shopping. And let me tell you I don’t want to have that. We had a lovey apple pie when we arrived with coffee and fresh ginger and mint tea. We loved Zara Home, and bought sneakers for the boys. I bought fabric sewing stuff and a bag. And I made memories again, after the lockdown I feel all that we CAN do ( travel and trip wise ) again is a gift. Also pictures are made by me not only for Hive and blogging but also as a reminder that life is good. Travel and going on city daytrips again is a blessing. And other than wearing the mask on the train , on the stations and subway and showing your code and your id, the Covid monster was in the back. But also here numbers are up again and ICU’s are filling up again. Our NS trains are the nation’s trains and we all know their colors. All Are blue, white and yellow, and a sight in our land every where jou go. Again clean hall ways to the trains and many shops also on the train station for comuters. I think it’s posh. There are people making sure all is well and helping tourists out. And people are fined when they break rules and leave trash. I feel like a tourist in my own country and try to see new things. It’s a good day. Back to the last stop, going with the subway back to Rotterdam Centre. It was a lovely day and such a treat! You gotta love travelling and visiting things in your country, and I love it very much. HOOG CATHERIJNE MALL.
The fact that people can join together in groups outside now with covid dutch rules helps so much for people enjoying being together again. We stopped by a group rehearsing a flash mob infront of hoog Catherijne entrance southside.
Wooden cart with books in multiple languages that people have finished reading in the trains and leave to be read-recycled by other comuters who like to read. Also magazines are exchanged. I love this and I didn’t make a picture of it, but there is also a piano in the main hall, where you can play a bit of music for the people in the terminal. I love these things !!
Life can be funny in some ways and clever at the same time
