Question Of The Week Season 10.1 "What Aspects Of Sustainability and Holistic Living Are Important To You?"

Holistic health and living are nothing but a human’s effort to concentrate on his personality and working units as a whole by taking them together. It could be his physical, mental, emotional, or everything else, but it’s all about bringing them together. We can add the spiritual and social dimensions to it to make it more perfect, but not necessarily.

It could be Healthy Living

But it is all about our complete lifestyle, and when I say "lifestyle," it’s nothing to do with lavish living but healthy living. The idea is to live with clear standards. We can assess it based on how physically fit we are, our stamina, how we perform in endurance tests, and how we think. And the most important thing of them all is how balanced our way of thinking is. It remains to be seen whether our mental state has a centric strength with no deviation to the right or left. It all counts at the end of the day.

So do you suggest I go to a cave in the Himalayas and spend the rest of my life meditating or living a stress-free life? I don't think so because a healthy and holistic life is all about how you feel, apply and enjoy doing the right things in your life.

Let me add a few more points to make it perfect. At the intellectual level, how holistic is our thinking? How do we manage and understand our family matters? On an emotional level, how mature, stable, and sensitive we are. This includes how we feel and act when it comes to accepting responsibilities and understanding in relationships, not just at the family level, but also at the social level. If you wish to add a spiritual level, you could add it. However, you can’t live a holistic way of life without being intuitive, positive, generous, and optimistic.

Humans can live a perfect life only when their fundamentals are stable. In other words, holistic living and happiness in life are possible only when there is complete stability in it. And I also feel that trying too hard to achieve happiness might even boomerang, so I feel a combination of creativity, activity, and a desire to have joy in life is the basic mantra to achieving a healthy and holistic life. Actually, one can’t think positively if there is stability.

People seek to stabilize their lives by controlling, reducing, or curtailing their desires. I agree, that’s the only way to take control of yourself. Only then will you get stability." But did you know that you have to work hard to achieve this stability first? Later, it becomes your habit and everything goes with the flow, like a river that knows its course and never deviates?

Those who talk about stability are leading a life of possession. Do you know that happiness, love, and ecstasy come to people’s lives slowly but surely if they wish to bring them? Stability brings you to a place where you can see everything with complete clarity. Stability is the first step to living a healthy and holistic life.

Does our body have anything to do with living a holistic life?

Definitely, identification with our body is the root of every other identity. Basically, if people are not able to see things in life, then it is only because they have identified themselves with a wrong perception. This identity starts with the body, then many more things are added to it later on. As soon as we identify with something, our whole mind understands that it needs to be protected, and then it works solely to protect it.

Now you will ask, ‘So how do I eliminate my identity with my country, with my religion, or with my society?‘ You do not need to eliminate all these things to eliminate your identity. If you remove your identity from your body, then the rest of your identity disappears automatically. Let's accept that everything is an extended form of your own identity but within the limited boundaries of your own body.

The more you try to find the meaning of life in whatever you are doing, the faster this recognition deepens. But do you know that thinking too much makes your vision limited? The drama going on in your mind goes to a level, that does not allow you to see anything clearly. Your own thoughts and feelings limit you to only yourself. Sadly, this world is constantly making people think that whatever is going on in their minds is very important. But let’s accept it, the world exists beyond us.

We get ideas, but they come from various sources.

Only a fool could call our thoughts pure while others have no mind. Thought refers to something that is not a reality at the moment. Thoughts are the old garbage that has accumulated in our minds and is now seeping out. You have to think about it for your own survival. But you don’t have to think to know about something new. You don’t need to think to gain self-knowledge. If you think, what will you think? You will only think about the things that are still on your mind. You might think of them in different ways.

My answer is, "Oh! There is a thought in my mind. I have an idea of what holistic living is, but am I right?"

If everything is visible to you, clearly, if you are not obstructing your vision, if that is all you can do, then stability will come by itself. Then you don’t have to worry about glee, because that is the nature of life. Everything is full of joy. Glee needs stability to happen. Otherwise, you keep on reducing your gaiety, because, without balance, gaiety hurts. If you are out of balance and you go too fast, you injure yourself. Whether you are walking on foot or riding in this universe, if you are out of balance and pick up speed, you can seriously harm yourself. That’s why balance is so important. And that’s what it takes to live a holistic and healthy life. Be careful and take care.

Reducing something doesn’t bring balance. The equilibrium that comes by reducing or stopping something is not equilibrium. It is the opposite. The core of everything is clarity of perspective, and that clarity doesn’t come until there is a coordination between you and your body. Without this distance, the growth of identities can not be stopped.

Lack of Health Awareness

Today, discussion about health is not enough. Consideration of overall health has become essential. Because there is a lack of health awareness in our society when someone falls ill, daily life gets paralyzed, work gets paralyzed, and we go to the shelter of a doctor. They get cured by taking medicines, and life rolls back to the old pattern. We are frequently unaware of our current state of health.
