Feeling gratitude can sometimes be blocked by other feelings whatever they may be. When we have a lot of challenging personal history with someone it can be hard to have any positive feelings for them. The same can be said for having gratitude for ourselves and our lives. It can be hard when we are attached to so many personal things such as how we look, what our accomplishments are, or whether we forgive ourselves for our mistakes. One of the roots of not being able to feel gratitude is simply that we may need to let go of something. Often we are attached to an idea, or something that happened, or even a feeling. That attachment blocks us from feeling our gratitude, which keeps playing out until we somehow LET GO!
There are so many ways to let go, and your answer can include not just what you need to let go of but also how you let go of things. Letting go can happen in many ways, whether it is with yourself or someone else. IT could just be done with a change in thinking, a shift in attitude or perspective. That is a magical kind of letting go because we don’t have to do anything, or wait, for us to feel totally differently about a situation. On the other hand, sometimes we do need to speak with someone or perform some kind of action, even a ritual,. to help us really let go. Talking about things can be a great way to vent and release, as can physical activity and even sex!
As our lives play out we may notice pattern that keep repeating, always giving us the opportunity to relearn our lessons ever deeper. It is helpful to know what we need to let go of so that we can understand ourselves better, and make a step toward shifting patterns that make our lives far less than perfect. I am sure that we all have very different things to let go of, and we all have personal stories and life events that have shaped us into the people we are today.
This question is an opportunity to discover, remember and reaffirm what you need to let go of. Maybe you haven’t thought about it before, or maybe you haven’t consciously noticed something that has been there all the time. I invite you to dig a little deeper and see if there is something else that you hadn't thought of before, you can of course share about more than one thing!
