Is Population an Opportunity or a Problem?

In this post, I will be talking about the Population of India and how it has some benefits as well as the negative impacts, and at the end, I will also say my opinion about this topic.

Environmental Problems

India has 2.4% of the world's landmass, 4% Water, and 16% Population of the world, it looks to me the math is not adding up. So for the 16% Population of the world if we need to provide the basic necessities we would have to provide them with Electricity for which we will have to burn Coal which is still the majority stakeholder in the production of energy in India. Then we have Food and since the population is already huge we have to go for various Chemicals and Fertilisers that in turn harm the environment and as hard is it for me to accept this there are still some villages in India that still don't get proper Drinking Water.

Economic Boost

Speaking about the positives of the population we have to include the fact that more population means a boost to the economy of the Country. We always want to have a better life than we already have which makes us strive for greater heights which in turn creates another Economic Boost for the Country and since the Population is high so the Economic Boost we get is also a little higher than other countries. All of this is shown in the GDP of our Country which as we know is predicted to Boost a lot.

GDP or GNH

I don't know if you have heard about GNH or not but it stands for Gross National Happiness and many ideologists believe that it is the right way to measure a countries success instead of GDP. Bhutan is called the Happiest Country in the World because they follow the GNH principle instead of GDP but also since the population of Bhutan is so small that they can make some changes so that their Citizens stay Happy and Well Cultured. But since India is such a huge Country such changes cannot be made here successfully.

So what do I think about the Population in India?

To be quite honest I really feel like India is way overpopulated and even though I haven't traveled half the country I can still say that comfortably. I feel like the number of children per household has been increasing from the '20s and only now it has started to decline a little which is good but we still don't know if the Birth Rate per Household will reach a level where we all would have sufficient Natural Resources for everyone now and for the future as well.

Now I am also fully aware that Lower Birth Rates are a problem too but as of now we are indeed suffering from Over Population and even though the birth Rates are at a steady Decline we still won't know when it will stabilize properly.
