France withdrew the ambassadors from Washington and Canberra for consultations, citing the "unacceptable behavior" of the United States, Great Britain and Australia in reaching an agreement on nuclear submarines, which undermined the agreement with France on their construction.
"At the request of the President of the Republic, Emanuel Macron, I have decided to immediately invite our two ambassadors to Paris for consultations, in the United States and Australia," said French Foreign Minister Yves Le Drian.
He added that the decision was justified due to the "extreme seriousness" of the decision made by the United States and Australia, RT reports.
"Leaving the project and the agreement reached by Canberra and Paris in 2016 is" unacceptable behavior among allies and partners, the consequences of which affect the very concept of our alliances, partnerships and the importance of the Indo-Pacific for Europe, "said the French minister.
