A few weeks ago it was confirmed that a multimillionaire man who swam in the waters of beautiful Costa Rica, died drowned in waters that were not suitable for such activity and I always curious I started to investigate the life of one of the fathers of Bitcoin.
At the time of death Mircea Popescu was with a companion, according to Costa Rican authorities the man was identified precisely by the person who accompanied him and the commotion as expected would not be expected, loved by many hated by others the passions aroused by this man were not free, with more than 1 million Bitcoins in his pockets is just over 2,000 million dollars was one of the most powerful whales of that cryptocurrency.

Al momento de morir Mircea Popescu se encontraba con una acompañante, según autoridades de Costa Rica el hombre fue identificado precisamente por la persona que lo acompañaba y la conmoción como era de esperarse no se haría esperar, querido por muchos odiados por otros las pasiones que despertaba este hombre no eran gratuitas, con más de 1 millón de Bitcoins en sus bolsillos es decir algo más de 2.000 millones de dólares era una de las ballenas más poderosas de esa criptomonedas.
Más impactante es saber que la fortuna de este hombre quizás se pierda por la imposibilidad de recuperar sus contraseñas, que como sabemos los que nos manejamos en este mundo sino se las confió a nadie, todos esos millones de bitcoins quizás se pierdan como pasaría con cualquiera de nosotros en hive si corriéramos con la misma suerte.

Although his personal and professional aspirations are little known, Popescu's commitment to open source systems is well known, this he makes clear on his Twitter account where he defined himself bitcoin philosopher. De Mircea Popescu se sabe poco o nada sin duda fue una de las voces más polémicas dentro de la blockchain y también uno de los precursores de la misma, el llamado padre de la “toxicidad de Bitcoin” mantuvo su vida en secreto y del solo sabemos de los blogs de Trilema, el apoyo a proyectos de código abierto centrados en la seguridad de la blockchain y el mantenimiento de la red Bitcoin sin cambios.
Después de escribir en un blog sobre criptomonedas en sus primeros años que explicaba en detalle su funcionamiento, fundó el intercambio de bitcoins Mpex en 2012 lo cual lo lleo a ser investigado por la Comisión de Bolsa y Valores de EE. UU. (SEC). También ayudo a dar forma al libro Bitcoin Standard considerado la biblia del Bitcoin, que trataba el papel de las criptomonedas en la sociedad y por él era considerado como una mente brillante.
Aunque sus aspiraciones personales y profesionales son poco conocidas, el compromiso de Popescu con los sistemas de código abierto es bien conocido, esto lo deja claro en su cuenta de Twitter donde se definía filósofo del bitcoin. Me encanta Bitcoin porque amo la libertad. Es tan simple como eso manifestó en una oportunidad el hombre misterioso que un día prometio renunciar a su millón de Bitcoins medida que genero preocupación, la razón es muy sencilla si Popescu realmente hubiera renunciado a la propiedad de sus Bitcoins al mercado, entonces el precio de Bitcoin entrara en picada y no habría nada que hacer.
Sin embargo Popescu ha muerto de manera inesperada dejando la valiosa suma en manos de nadie, e incrementando el misterio de su sospechoso final uniéndose así al mismo destino fatal de John McAfee el creador del antivirus que se suicidó en España tras ser acusado por Estados Unidos de fraude en el mercado de las criptomonedas. Por si acaso debemos cuidar a nuestras ballenas, no queremos quedarnos huérfanos en Hive.
