Literature still holds its place

In every phase of our life, we mostly observe the two extreme perspectives very easily as people mostly converse about them. For me, studying literature was an aspect that was looked down upon back in 2018 and yet still today. Some individuals have this set of the mindset that anybody can dance and anybody can be a writer or poet. Yes, I do believe that anybody can dance but for that, they need to try hard. Anybody can be a poet, this statement has two sides to it, one which is motivational and the other which is negligence. Here I intend to highlight that it has been taken as a piece of cake for quite a long time and people especially in my society have grown to believe that it is not something one needs to work hard on. So, to highlight this aspect that no still literature has its due respect and has that high quality is quite the basis of this post. Just like how we work hard for studying in any other sector, here also we need to struggle that much. However, this is a concept which barely hits everybody but still, I believe that it hits at least somebody, maybe that is the reason we are still shining and are able to hit milestones one after another. May it be in small pieces yet continuity matters.

Nobel Prize in Literature

To break the ice, to go beyond and keep it as a prove once again Literature wins the Nobel Prize. Abdulrazak Gurnah wins Nobel Prize for Literature this 2021. While scrolling through the net suddenly this headline gets my attention and I was bound to write this short post. As a literature student, I felt obliged to post on and pass on the information that literature IS STILL ALIVE and yet has the RESPECT. This post is dedicated to all the literature and language students over the world, that know your decision is for themselves and know as long as you keep believing in yourself you can succeed.

Tanzanian novelist Abdulrazak Gurnah has been awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize for Literature, last Thursday. His write-up highlighted the "uncompromising and compassionate penetration of the effects of colonialism and the fate of the refugee in the gulf between cultures and continents." Such criticism and analysis are only possible by a highly analytic novelist. It was quite upright of him to share such vivid analysis on colonialism and migration. I am intending to read one of his books, I am quite interested to share my feedback.

Hopefully alike him, more novelists will be encouraged to keep voicing out and enriching literature with their critics, analysis, stories, and observations. My best wishes are to all those beginners who are attempting to work in this field and are working. Also, my deepest appreciation moves towards those who appreciate such works and promote them. Wish you all a good day.
