Water is Life. Enjoy It.

When we think of snacks, we often think of little bits of enjoyable food. Sometimes we have snacks to fill a gap between meals, to keep hunger at bay, or just to enjoy a treat.

But all of those reasons can also be reasons to enjoy a beverage. Specifically, water.

Most people could stand to drink more water. Even I, who reminds clients regularly to drink more water, go through periods where I'm less mindful about it than I should be.

But one way to make sure you're getting enough water is to make it enjoyable. Make it a fun thing, like you would a snack. Make it a treat. This helps to keep the tastebuds happy between meals, keep you from feeling too hungry, and gives you more energy.

Here are some examples of how my wife and I are making our water just a little more enticing lately, so we make sure we're drinking enough. Try them yourself!

Refreshing Ginger, Apple Cider Vinegar, Mint, and Honey!

This one is sweet and refreshing on a summer day. You don't need much honey or apple cider vinegar. Just a dash of each. Let the mint and ginger do the heavy lifting here.

Cherry, Lime, and Basil

Again, just a dash of cherry juice is all that's needed here. But squeeze in as much lime juice as you like. A little basil, and basil seed gives it a little extra flavor and texture. You can use basil seed much like you would use chia seeds.

Cucumber, Chia, and Tarragon!

Speaking of chia seeds... they add just a little bit of extra goodness to this cucumber infusion. This one is quite mild compared to the above examples. But you could add some ginger to this one to spice it up as well. Ginger goes really well with cucumbers.

It's easy to get busy, and forget to drink enough water. But if you can make it fun and enjoyable, it's much easier to make sure you're drinking plenty of water. And since I live in the desert, that's particularly important.

Do you do anything special to make sure you're drinking enough water?
