Bol Renversé translated in English to Upside-Down Bowl is one of the most famous dish that is loved by everyone in Mauritius!
So what's in this dish!?
We actually place a fried egg at the bottom of a bowl, then add some chicken chopsuey then top up with steam rice...
Next we just have to turn in on a plate and enjoy!
Let me show you how I made mine today - we had this for lunch and it came out super yummy!
Enjoy!!!
I started by cutting my chicken, prawns and the different veggies that will go in the chopsuey!
Yeah I wanted to add some prawns too!
Once all is ready and cut, we start the cooking!
Heat little oil in a wok and started by sautéing the chicken - I simply marinated with little salt, pepper and garlic paste!
Then in that same wok, add the prawns and let cook for 2 minutes!
Add little soy sauce and mix well together!
Now we add the vegetables...I started with the carrots and onions first and let cook for a minute or so!
Then add the rest of the veggies - zucchini, squash and bok choy!
Sautéed well until you have the below result...
Add more soy sauce and oyster sauce until you get the taste you are looking for!
You can also add little chicken broth and thicken the sauce with cornstarch.
Now that the chopsuey was ready, I fried the eggs.
Place the fried egg at the bottom of a bowl...
Pour the chopsuey on top of the fried egg...
And finish off by topping up with steamed rice...press well!
Turn the bowl on a serving plate...and you just have to lift the bowl up and enjoy your upside down bowl!
Et voilà my friends...the food is ready to serve!
Bon Appetit everyone!
Have you ever had a dish like that!?
By the way...you can make this one with different things inside, not necessarily with what I put!
Feel free and have fun creating your upside-down bowl!
Wish you a wonderful day/evening ahead!
Thanks for reading and enjoying my post!
